Commercial Description:
Porter dates from the 1720's and is the predecessor to Stout. Ours is a Robust Porter with plenty of body and a deep garnet, almost black color. It is slightly sweet with chocolate & coffee aromas and a slight toffee/molasses finish. Hop and roasted grain flavors are present, but unlike Stout, the Porter profile is balanced with no single dominating component. We use 7 grains and only the finest English Fuggles hops to brew Blackbird Porter.

Draught. Pours opaque brown with a solid beige head. It has a roasty chocolate aroma. The flavor is also quite roasty with some deep, earthy coffee, just a touch of something like maple, and a chocolatey sweet finish. I am impressed.

draught. Blackbird is a nice solid dark, dark brown with a frothy tan head. There’s plenty of thick roasty malt aroma with some dark chocolate sweetness. The flavor is quite similar: a huge milky coffee flavor with just a bit of burned wood. This is the best porter I’ve had so far by a small brewpub.

A nice almost black color. Slightly sweet. Chocolate and coffee flavors very present in this beer. Not the overly complex and cloying kind of porter. More like the subtle, light, entertaining kind of porter.

Nearly opaque dark brown pour has nicely-lacing light tan head. Aroma has a good sweet malty roasted character. Body starts with a sweet roasty maltiness and good hints of smoke with a sticky dark chocolate finish and nice mild bitterness throughout. A very drinkable and enjoyable porter.

Dark brown with a mocha colored head. The aroma comes easily with lots of chocolate and roasted malts. The flavor is smooth and the mouthfeel is near perfect. A very good, solid Porter.

Draft at the 5. Dark black color with a thin light tan head. Big roast in the aroma and flavor. Bitter chocolate, full roasted coffee, and hints of smoke mixed in. Crisp with a light-medium body.

a lovely looking porter with a very dark almost black appearance with sand-colored head. lots of roasted malts, lots of smoked flavors. like chocolate on a barbeque (gas grill not charcoal though). but it was quite excellent. nice coffee, chocolate balance. definitely one i would have again.
