Commercial Description:
Porter dates from the 1720's and is the predecessor to Stout. Ours is a Robust Porter with plenty of body and a deep garnet, almost black color. It is slightly sweet with chocolate & coffee aromas and a slight toffee/molasses finish. Hop and roasted grain flavors are present, but unlike Stout, the Porter profile is balanced with no single dominating component. We use 7 grains and only the finest English Fuggles hops to brew Blackbird Porter.

Draft. Dark black, medium bodied pour. Big aroma of roasted malts, some sweet caramel, and a fair bit of smoke. Big chocolate flavor for me, with more roasted malt flavors and smoke. Also some darker fruits - prunes I thought. Also has a decent bitter bite to finish things off. I really enjoyed this one.

A nice dark black color to it with a slightly off white head that died soon after the pour. Had a very smokey aroma with hints of chocolalte but dominated by smokey wood and nuts. The body was very smooth, slightly creamy too, with a lot more of the smoked wood, nuts and choclate. A fairly nice porter.

Good porter. Looks great...deep dark black with a brown head. Nice and dry (roasty) but with a wetness that truly lingers. Not bad at all. Almost tastes like schwarz. G-rat

A nice bier here. A dark black apperance with a poofy head. This has a little more kick than your average porter. The flavor is chocolate, coffee, dark fruit, and roasted malts. A creamy mouthfeel. 5 Seasons just rocks and I'm sorry I once doubted this brewery!

Nice smokey/roast cocoa aroma. Cola brown, big khaki head. Creamy, cocoa and roast flavor. Threatens to go coffee-tart but then relents. A long lasting hop and coffee bitter finish. Sturdy body. Quite good.

Dark brown appearance is very nearly black, with some dark red highlights. The aroma is very strongly roasted malts with coffee flavors being quite dominant. Tastes sweeter than the smell suggests at first with a mixture of both coffee and chocolate flavors, and some fruity maltyness. Hops are pretty evident, but are of the restrained English type with a dignified bitterness. Creamy mouthfeel is pretty thick. The beer is not terribly complex, but is a solid offering among the lineup here.

Deep, dark black appearance with a tight mocha head and good lacing. Clean, hard to describe aroma - milky/creamy to pin a label on it. Chocolately, with a little bit of coffee. No oilyness noted. Turns just a tad harsh near the end - does not ruin it though. All in all a good porter from a great brewpub.

Dark and rich in color, strong coffee, slightly bitter aroma. Taste is similar, very sweet, but almost too sharp of a flavor to be easily drinkable. Coffee, some chocolate finish.
