Commercial Description:
Porter dates from the 1720's and is the predecessor to Stout. Ours is a Robust Porter with plenty of body and a deep garnet, almost black color. It is slightly sweet with chocolate & coffee aromas and a slight toffee/molasses finish. Hop and roasted grain flavors are present, but unlike Stout, the Porter profile is balanced with no single dominating component. We use 7 grains and only the finest English Fuggles hops to brew Blackbird Porter.

Nearly opaque dark brown pour has nicely-lacing light tan head. Aroma has a good sweet malty roasted character. Body starts with a sweet roasty maltiness and good hints of smoke with a sticky dark chocolate finish and nice mild bitterness throughout. A very drinkable and enjoyable porter.

On tap at 5 Seasons. Poured deep brown with garnet highlights and a long-standing, creamy beige head. The aroma picked up a well-roasted impression of semi-sweet chocolate and coffee notes with slightly sour woodsy and black patent notes on the back. The flavor found dry-roasted black and chocolatey malts surrounded by slightly sour oaky and spicy character around.. a touch sweeter on the finish with semi-sweet chocolates and black peppery notes. Medium-bodied and roasty on the palate with moderate carbonation.. drier with an OK flow. Very serviceable porter.

Draft at the 5. Dark black color with a thin light tan head. Big roast in the aroma and flavor. Bitter chocolate, full roasted coffee, and hints of smoke mixed in. Crisp with a light-medium body.

Deep, dark black appearance with a tight mocha head and good lacing. Clean, hard to describe aroma - milky/creamy to pin a label on it. Chocolately, with a little bit of coffee. No oilyness noted. Turns just a tad harsh near the end - does not ruin it though. All in all a good porter from a great brewpub.

Nice smokey/roast cocoa aroma. Cola brown, big khaki head. Creamy, cocoa and roast flavor. Threatens to go coffee-tart but then relents. A long lasting hop and coffee bitter finish. Sturdy body. Quite good.

Tap. Pours Black, Tan rocky head. Aroma of roasted malt. Flavor has a sweet nutty and fruitiness to it. Dried black cherries or a slice of fruit leather. Light-medium bodied. Full of whole grain flavor. Finishes with a deep earthy hop bitterness. Perhaps the finest beer currently pouring!!!

Nice tasty, creamy porter. Very black, nice creamy tan head. Low bitterness and hopping, but nice complex malts. It's not as heavy and as rich as a stout, but manages to keep the malts big enough to avoid falling into bland porterland.
