Snifter at the brewpub on 5/4/08: Pours an oily opaque with dark brown edges and a spotty-lacing froth of beige head. Aroma of fresh roasty coffee, rich dark chocolate and sweet dark caramel malt. Body starts with good viscosity and sweet dark malts along with lots of roasty fresh coffee balance before a rich, smooth drier finish with lingering dark chocolate notes. A nice imperial stout with enjoyable coffee character.

Draft @ the 5. Poured black with a thin tan head. Big roasty malt aroma. Plenty of coffee and milk chocolate. Flavor matches the aroma but with more chocolate and less coffee. medium bodied.

This draft brew from the brewery poured a large sized head of foamy finely sized light brown colored bubbles that were long lasting and left behind a opaque no visible carbonation black colored body and a very good lacing. The aroma was brown malt roasted malt and toasted malt. The mouth feel was weakly tingly at the start mediumly tingly at the finish. The flavor contained notes of dark malt. Delicious and one I would certainly buy again.

Draft at 5 Seasons Brewing Company. Small tan head with short retention span, mostly opaque body, spottly amounts of lacing, and a brown with red tint hue. The aroma was malty, coffee, dark chocolate, roasty, and burnt. Ditto for the flavor with a semi-dry finish. The mouthfeel was tingly and this is a medium bodied beer. A nicely brewed impy stout where the flavors came together very nicely and a beer that I was impressed with and would drink again.

Appearance: Inky black body with a full finger of dense, khaki-colored foam that leaves loads of splotchy lacing resembling a Rorschach test. Smell: Strong, redolent coffee liqueur aroma packed with roast and melty dark chocolate. Taste: Crammed full of maltiness, roast, and dark chocolate. Wrapped in a luxurious, dessertlike sweetness. Some tastes of toffee. Mild roasty bitterness. Rich, espresso-soaked, warming finish. Mouthfeel: Medium-full body. Mild carbonation. Silky texture. Drinkability: Mighty fine! I am delighted and impressed with the deliciousness on display here.

This pours almost black with a creamy tan head. Both the aroma and flavor are rich coffee and chocolate with good balancing bitterness. The only drawback is that the body is a little thin.

Draft at the Sandy Springs location, expected an oatmeal stout, perceived to be an imperial stout, only later to confirm that it was an imperial oatmeal stout. Appearance was dark black color, brownish-tan significant head with great retention, continuous tan lacing left on the glass walls. The aroma was a nice balance of coffee, chocolate, and light piney hops. The flavor followed suit, certainly not complex, but nicely blended together choco-coffee malts with a touch of hops to clean up the finish. The oats got lost in the higher abv, as did any dry type finish achievable with oatmeal stouts. Nevertheless, probably my favorite of the 5S brews I had.
