decaturstevo (1971), decatur, Tennessee, USA Mar 4, 2009 A brass color with creamy white head and lace. Medium malt and a hint of earthy hops. Light caramel malt, almost musty, with a medium bitter. Medium bodied with a tad aggressive carbonation. I gave this beer an extra .1 for the nice finishing bitter. SSSteve (2047), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Feb 15, 2009 unusually dark for this style with an amber hue. crisp grainy aroma. flavor is grainy with a touch of fresh hops thrown in. dry and crisp. a very nice beer. ChainGangGuy (2523), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA Feb 6, 2009 Appearance: Clear, copper body with a thin, wispy, white head.
Smell: Altogether mild aroma smelling lightly of grainy pale malt, seasoned firewood, and only a hint of fruit.
Taste: Lightly sweet, lightly grainy pale malt flavor followed by the characteristically woody, spicy hop character of Northern Brewer hops. Like a tea made of ash tree bark peelings, really. Dull, muted citrus fruitiness. Moderate bitterness throughout. Finishes dry and crisp with a mild, lingering bitterness.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation with a fine, crisp texture.
Drinkability: It’s an adequate California Common that’ll do in a pinch, but why not go for something a bit more stirring, like their Hopgasm. Cybercat (778), Georgia, USA Jan 27, 2009 Pours a dark, clear golden like dark honey with a thick beige head. Aroma is malty, slightly spicy, slightly sweet, and slightly hoppy. Flavor is more hoppy than malty with a whisper of sweetness and not too much bitter to it. Texture is crisp, tingly and sassy and has a bit of a bite.
