ChainGangGuy (1602), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA Jul 11, 2008 Appearance: Clear, dark orange body with a small, white head. Served with a juicy orange slice.
Smell: Pale malts, a touch of wheat, and a zip of sugar and spices and orange peel.
Taste: Pale, wheaty maltiness with a middling sweetness to it. A pop of oily orange zest flavor, but it could be the orange slice I’m staring down on the rim. More and more spices are picked up along the way developing into a decidedly peppery taste. A few drops of honey. Slight sour yeastiness. Spicy finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium-low carbonation. Very slight stickiness to the mouthfeel.
Drinkability: A fine ramped up wit, it paired pleasantly with the tomato and fennel soup and the pan-broiled monkfish. The orange slice was equally delicious.
unclemattie (1620), Georgia, USA Jun 21, 2008 01 May 08. Firkin. Deep orange/amber color. Thick, long lasting, white, creamy head. Aroma of sweet malt, bread, and some alcohol. Flavor is complex to say the least. Starts malty, bready, yeasty, and dough. Big Belgian yeast characteristics. Finishes dry with an odd spiced mouthfeel. Then KP tells me that this beer has been "dry-peppered". There is a slight tingle all the way in the back of my mouth, right on the top of the tongue. Interesting. Cheers, (again) to Crawford! kp (6200), Woodstock, Georgia, USA May 25, 2008 Updated: Aug 13, 2008Date: 05/01/2008

lower carbonation on this cask producing fewer visible effects and letting the fruit come a bit more forward with the spicyness receeding a bit, second snifter brings out more of the spicyness and earthyness
