Commercial Description:
Warning: This beer is hoppy!
It has 10 different hops and over 3 pounds of hops per barrel! It has a big citrus aroma and is unfiltered, and therefore cloudy, to keep all the hop goodness in there. A deep garnet-red comes from the British crystal malt. My parents always wanted me to have a plan B in case the brewing career didn’t work out. So here is my Plan B, Mom and Dad. on tap at 5 Seasons North on 11/5/09... really solid IPA... pours a deep full bodied red with a nice white head. big pine hop aroma fills the nose. medium to full body... the hops really grab hold of your tongue throughout... a bit lighter up top and soft sides ... some underlying malt to keep things in line... thick bitter hop bomb finish.

100th India Pale Ale (IPA). Dark red orange, sticky white head. Herbal pine hop aroma, caramel. Taste is sticky resinous hops, big toffee and caramel.

Pours a barely translucent dark honey brown with a fairly thick off-white head. Aroma is seriously hoppy, similar to sniffing an evergreen tree, promising a great IPA. Flavor is seriously hoppy, like drinking a liquid pine tree - the way a great IPA should be! Fizzy, rough texture fairly attacks the tongue. This is one of the best IPAs I have ever had.

Draft at Westside. Hazy, copper color. Huge floral hop aroma. Taste is pure hop juice.

On tap at Westside. That place is lovely. Anyways, about the beer, pour is cloudy dark orange with a bubbly and frothy tan head. Tasty citrus hops all over this. Grapefruit and a little lemon. Aroma and flavor are right in line with each other. Good malt profile to add a touch of sweetness and balance everything out. Hops here are great and not overpoweringly bitter. Would appeal to a number of different people in that regard. I might want this as my everyday IPA.

Tap at 5 seasons. Orangish/amber pour. White head. Tons of hop profiles in the nose. Grass, citrus, floral and pine. The malt bill is light but in the nose and on the tongue it keeps this one fairly well balanced. But the hops shine and kick ass in this one. Really a good IPA.

Pours a copper orange with a white head. Aroma of big hops, citrus, fruit, and earthy notes. Taste is also very hoppy, with more citrus and some pine coming through. Malt backing is adequate. Some slightly strange earthy notes in there as well. Finish is bitter, and the mouth is pretty full with average carbonation. Overall, a pretty decent IPA.

Congrats to Crawford and the 5 Seasons crew on finally getting Westside up and running, with this being the first beer from the new location. Pours a bright and very cloudy orangish amber with a small bubbly white head that recedes to a small ring and leaves spotty lacing. As Greg mentioned, it looks very much like a cask pour. The aroma is full of hops, all kinds of hops. There’s an initial sweet citrusy blast of oranges and grapefruit that seems to give way to some floral pine aromas as well. The malts are there but take a back seat. The taste is almost as hoppy but is more balanced than the aroma would suggest. It’s got the same juicy citrus hop kick up front before the sweet caramel malts come in to form a solid backbone. The finish is fairly astringent with pine and citrus hops lingering through the finish. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied and very slick with low carbonation for the style. I definitely enjoyed this and I think the extra balance from the malts in the taste really make this one a top notch IPA.
