Commercial Description:
This is a traditional English style Nut Brown. It's slightly higher in gravity than our Pale Ale and gets its deep walnut hue from rich Belgian caramel malts and dark roasted British malts. English Fuggle hops are used in both the kettle and "dry hopped" during maturation to give our Nut Brown an earthy, balanced bitterness and a delicate fresh hop aroma, without that over-hopped bite. This is an excellent beer for the colder months and goes well with mussels, lamb and the richer, fuller flavored cheeses.

TheDM and Hotstuff vacation brew 30. This draft brew was enjoyed at the brewery in Atlanta Georgia. Dennis, the owner, treated us royally. He kept bringing sample after sample to our table. We were given every courtesy and treated very well. Thanks to their fine staff. This brew poured a small head of off-white colored finely sized long lasting bubbles that left behind a excellent lace and a softly carbonated transparent medium orange brown colored body. It had a mild malt aroma and a smooth slightly tingly mouthfeel that finished with a very nice brown flavored tingle. It had a nice light brown beer flavor with mellow malty notes.

Dark brown color with not much head but adequate lacing. Aroma is mild to non-existant (maybe it was the smoke in the bar), but what I could get was lightly roasted and nutty. The flavor is well balanced, nothing too complex or assertive, very easy to drink for such a nice malt profile. I usually like a nut brown to have just a touch of diactyl as it adds a little zest to the finish, this had next to none, so it was relying on the crystal malt for that edge. It didn't quite have what it takes to get the best of my top brown ales, but it is definately on the positive side with its medium body and easy drinking character.

Tight, creamy, white head sits on a brown-ruby body. Nutty, brown sugar malt. Robust hops are not overdone. Slight tea flavor/aroma. Medium-full body, fizzy carbonation, slightly acidic. Full flavored.

Not bad, but not great. To use another reviewer's words, "Boring."

This is an excellent brown. It's got layers of malty complexity. Just a little hint of coffee supports a nice small chocolate nuts. There's just enough hops to keep it from being too sweet. I also got a little bit of prune going on, but not in a bad way. I thought this was an excellent brown ale.
