thedm (3405), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA Dec 16, 2003 TheDM and Hotstuff vacation brew 34. This draft brew was enjoyed at the brewery in Atlanta Georgia. Dennis, the owner, treated us royally. He kept bringing sample after sample to our table. We were given every courtesy and treated very well. Thanks to their fine staff. This brew poured minimal head of large sized white colored bubbles that lasted a long time for an IPA. The body was hazy light orange brown in color and the aroma was mildly hopped. The flavor and mouthfeel were of mellow hops.
BlackDonald (1040), North Carolina, USA Jun 4, 2008 A very distinct floral hop nose, with that ever present citrus in the background. This does not have the depth of flavor that other IPAs have had at this brewery. This one is slightly one-dimensional. A little too agressively hopped, with a malt background that never gets up to snuff, and stays intimidated in the background. unclemattie (1567), Georgia, USA Jan 15, 2008 tap. Light orange/amber color. Rocky white head. Flavor is very sweet and extremely floral. Big hop florals travel way bback on the palate. Citrus aroma. Perfect lacing. Reminds me of Pliney... with less personality MartinT (4316), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Jan 14, 2008 My Bottom Line:
Gentle spicy, floral and citrusy hops bloom atop the honeyed maltiness, leading to a calculated wooden hop bitterness for a balanced and highly drinkable IPA.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam tops the misty honeyed gold.
-Orange fruitiness seeps out of the malt and hop union.
-This is surprisingly not that intensely hopped for an American-style IPA.
-This is expertly brewed, but may lack that little dose of personality to distinguish it from the slew of very good IPAs out there.
On tap at the brewpub. KieferUGA (317), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Dec 31, 2007 Draft. Pours a cloudy, golden color. Thin white head. Aroma of citrus. Small amount of lacing. Flavor is a pretty decent balance of caramel malt and citrus hops. Medium bitter finish. desurfer (1032), Pinellas Park, Florida, USA Dec 21, 2007 Slightly cloudy amber body with little head. Aroma is hoppy and sweet. Flavor is full of citrus and pine hoppiness; crisp and fresh, balanced with moderate maltiness. Finishes clean and dry. There’s nothing like a super-fresh IPA in tap.
