Commercial Description:
This one has a deep golden color with hints of copper. It has a nice hop aroma as it is dry hopped with Chinook.

Cask. Poured a cloudy orangish brown, with a small white head. Aroma was bready, earthy, lightly sweet, some citrus. Tastes bready, malty, with a light citrus hop side. A little bitterness. Cask mouth is a little watery, carbonation is mild. Overall, a decent cask ale and esb. A little hoppy and watery, but not bad.

Tap. Orange-brown color. Nice toasted malt. Grassy hops with a bit of citrus. Very well balanced. Earthy with a good bit of toasted barley. Bold bitterness in the end.

Cask through a Randall at 5SW. Pours a cloudy orangish amber with a small bubbly head that recedes quickly to a bubbly ring. The aroma was dominated by toasted bread with hints of grassy hops and some pale malts. The taste has a light lemony citrus kick up front but gives way to the crisp bready backbone. The taste has an overall buttery character to it but finishes fairly dry. The mouthfeel is super smooth with very low carbonation. This is a solid ESB from the guys at 5SW and an excellent example of a sessionable cask ale.

On tap at the brewpub, westside. Pours a clear brown color with a red tint. Floral hop aroma. You notice the nutty malt and slight caramel body at first and then get hit with a faint but well placed citrus hop profile. On the hoppier side of the esb spectrum with distinct american hops working their way in here.

Tap. Amberish pour. Mostly white head. Caramel malts and floral and citrus hops lead off followed by a bready/cracker note. Flavor is smooth and malty with a perfect balance of hops. Nice effort for a style I dont care much for.

Appearance: Arrived at my side table a cloudy, orange-amber body with a smallish, frothy, white head. Smell: Biscuity malts with lightly sweetish touches of toffee candy and earthy, herbal, citrusy hops. Taste: Good, wholesome pale malts, lightly biscuity and with hints of sweet toffee. The hops present an earthy herbaceousness, but, for the most part, they’re fairly lemony. Medium-plus bitterness. The back end is dry and bitter and finishes the same. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Drinkability: An acceptable, easily drinkable ESB from Matt at 5 Seasons Westside. Paired nicely with the alligator eggrolls, particularly the dipping sauce which had a nice spicy bite to it.
