nothing beats a morning cup of coffee with breakfast, lots of coffee, roasted malt character showing through, more bitterness in the long finish, would be too much bitterness if not for the rich coffee to balance it out

CaptainCougar (4665), Rockville, Maryland, USA Jan 17, 2005 On tap at 5 Seasons: Pours a rich oily black with a frothy, light brown head into a nice snifter. Aroma boasts strong roasted coffee beans, dark chocolate, and some sweet caramel malt. Body starts fairly thick with a ton of gritty, sugary, but not too sweet, roasted coffee beans. Gets drier toward the dark chocolatey finish. Well-balanced, if you like coffee, and has some light complexities. A very nice mocha imperial. BückDich (4559), Boise, Idaho, USA Jan 22, 2005 Very oily black color with small head and sticky lacing. Nose of espresso stou, decent amounts of sweet coffee & roast. Taste is milky & sweet, very nice flavors with some burning alcohol. Tasty non-session beer with coffee bitterness & chocolate sweetness. Thanks Ken!
goldtwins (3741), Nesconset, New York, USA Feb 10, 2005 Poured black with a thin tan head. Huge coffe aroma with some light hops in the background (This is from my first tasting notes. I have had this a bunch of times since and the hop aroma has been more subdued since). Big dark coffe taste, almost like chewing coffee beans. Smooth and creamy. Clean light finish leaves a nice bitter coffee after taste. Medium bodied. Eyedrinkale (3111), Beer Town, New York, USA Mar 2, 2005 Thanks to CC for the 1.5L of this bad boy. Aroma is a nicely roasted, rich coffee with some bitter chocolate malts. Body is full and sweet with the same flavors as the aroma. Head doesn’t hold up as well as I’d like, but considering it came hand bottled, I’m not going to hold it against the beer. Coffee dominates the flavor but for me thats a good thing. Not very balanced but a nice beer by a great bunch of guys at 5 Seasons.
