Creamy tan head on a deep brown body. Somewhat subdued aroma of roasted beans and dark chocolate. The body more than makes up for the soft aroma with heavy notes of smoke, tobacco, nut and chocolate. Smooth mouthfeel with a great nutty/sweet finish. Solid porter all around

Draft at 75th Street Brewpub. Pours a black body with an off white head. Licorice, dark chocolate and sweet malt notes. Light roasted character with a dry oat finish. Good brew.

Draft, tulip. Roasted malt and chocolate in the aroma, brown sugar and some faint dark fruit, raisin, some hint of the oatmeal and toast. Dark brown-black color, head is diminishing entirely. Somewhat Baltic in nature, with roasted, almost burnt grains, cocoa, brown sugary/toffeeish sweetness, with a light dosage of hop bitterness, becoming drier towards the finish. Thin mouthfeel with low carbonation, body is medium. Tasty enough. Not outstanding, though.

12 oz nitro pour at the brewpub. Served in a Tulip - pours with an opaque black with a one inch tan khaki head. Head is solid and lasting, nice looking beer. Aroma of oatmeal, roast malt, some bright grass and noticeable pine hop. Taste is silky, slightly roasty, very much oatmeal in the body. Near the end is some nutty and sweet coffee notes. Palate is nitro silkiness, and pretty flat. There is also a weird wood element to the beer, which makes it very drying.
