Commercial Description:
A. Le Coq’s Chocolate Porter conceals an elite mystery. The pleasant aroma and thick creamy foam is followed by a strong porter taste, made distinctive by the pungent flavour of chocolate malt. Chocolate Porter is a very pleasant and not-too-sweet draught of wintry enjoyment. The first Estonian Chocolate Porter. With love from A. Le Coq.

Bottled. Dark reddish brown with a beige head. Chocolate and mocha dominates the aroma and flavor, and there’s some alcohol as well. Full-bodied with a long chocolate finish. Really lovely. (060929)

50cl bottle. Pours black with a creamy brown head. Nose & taste is dark roasted malts, coffee & heavy sweet milky chocolate. Smooth! One dimensional, chocolate all over, but drinkable!

Practically black, healthy tan head. Sweet and rich roasted malt aroma, definitely in the A le Coq style. Hardly got much chocolate from it. Taste also sweet, smooth, and rich roasted malt. A little sickly, no punch. I’ve also had one in the past which was a bit more chocolatey.

Bottle. Almost black colour with a nice brown head. Rich aroma and taste of roasted malts and chocolate. Not too sweet, nice.

Dark brown leaning towards black. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, plums and alcohol. I find the same in the flavour, that is sweetish and has notes of milk chocolate. The alcohol is to dominating, and makes this a mediocre experience for me.

Courtesy of Madsberg. The body of this beer is a red tinted black and the head is quite attractive, it is a thumb thick and mostly lasting with a frothy, yet creamy mocha colored cappucino-like appearance.
Aroma is laden with vanilla, chocolate, molasses, mild licorice and dried dark fruits. It’s mildly stale smelling at first, but that fades leaving a pretty solid aroma.
The first sip is very cocoa/chocolate and vanilla accented. There are mild coffee notes and so it tastes a lot like a flavored coffee. The mouthfeel is nice though a touch thin in the finish. I could see this getting too sweet for some, but to me it is quite tasty and quite enjoyable. A very nice winter treat. There is a mild alcohol burn in the finish along with more intense vanilla/cocoa notes. I like!
