Commercial Description:
A.Le Coq Porter is a strong dark beer that can rightfully be considered to be the successor of the world-famous "Imperial Extra Double Stout." Its mature character and perfect taste are derived from sparkling spring water and extra dark caramel-malt.

Clear mahogany hue below a thick and creamy off-white head. Smoky nose with teases of cherries and coffee. Restrained toast and cookie flavors at first, evolving into a roasty sensation with light grape acidity and finishing with light coffee bitterness into a chocolate aftertaste. Oily in the mouth with prickling carbonation and a medium weight.

What’s there is good, but it’s mostly sharp smoke and roast with little intensity otherwise.

50 cl bottle, best before 04 April 2009.

Medium sized, creamy, light tan head floats on a clear, matte, medium brown body. The aroma is surprisingly light all the way around, primarily focusing on cherries, cocoa powder, watered down instant coffee an peanuts. In the background, something like rubbing alcohol on cotton balls. Light to moderately sweet tasting of light caramel and watered down coffee. No acidity of any sort to be found. Finishes kind of woody, water and then limps away. Light instant coffee aftertaste. Medium-light bodied with a watery texture and very average carbonation. Flat and dull; nothing offensive, but no reward for consumption. 50cl bottle, bbe 21.07.08.

Bottle. The color is black, but not pitch black. The foam is quite large and fluffy, a bit dirty. Fairly faint aroma with chocolate, nuts and roasted malt. A little bit weak flavor, some caramel, chocolate and roasted malt. Unfortunately, the end feels pretty thin and watery, not much aftertaste.

Bottle. Creamy light brown head and a clear brown-black body. Heavy malt aroma of burnt and roasted malt. Medium body, thin-oily texture and soft carbonation. Moderate/heavy sweet and light bitter. Uninteresting beer.

Flaske: Brun klar øl med et lille skumhoved. Kedelig sødlig brændt smag der bestemt ikke skriger til himlen efter mere. Om igen.

500 ml bottle. Finland. Dark reddish brown colour with tan head. Malt, sweet caramel and brown sugar in aroma. Malty and sweet with caramel, coffee, liquorice and hints of alcohol in flavour. Slightly watery for a Baltic porter.
