hotstuff (3045), Indiana, USA Dec 20, 2003 Draft at A1A in St. Augustine. This flavor of this beer reminded me more of a true Pale Ale than an Amber Ale. It had a small sized white head that contained fine-medium sized bubbles that quickly and completely dissipated. The body was softly carbonated and transparent with a red hue. The nose was hoppy with a bitter and hoppy flavor. The mouthfeel was fairly smooth and somewhat dry. This was a medium bodied beer in my opinion with sparse lacing.
DragonStout (1181), Orlando, Florida, USA Sep 14, 2008 On tap at the brewpub. Poured copper with an orangish hue and a white lacing head.Nose was of sweet citrus and flavor was citrus and hoppy. This finished off with a hoppy bitterness. BeerVirgin72 (588), C-Bus, Ohio, USA Sep 5, 2008 Sampled at brewpub. Very pretty pour of amber. Aroma of grapefruit. Flavor was spice and hops. And the hops were a bit overpowering for me. brentfeesh (937), Gadsden, Alabama, USA Aug 26, 2008 Sampled at Southern Brewers Festival 2008. Probably my favorite of the day. Nice amber colored brew with an off white wispy head. Hopy and crisp aroma. Mineral infused malt that is fairly roasty. Hoppy earthy flavor with notes of pine. The malt is just enough to let the hops take center stage but it also imparts a pleasant roatyness. Medium body, semi-dry. Quite nice. Shag (1787), Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA Aug 24, 2008 A copper color with a rather large head. The aroma is malty but also contains quite a bit of citrus notes. This one was pretty hoppy for an amber ale. The flavor contained some caramel and citrus such as grapefruit and oranges. The finish was rather bitter. Overall a pretty darn good beer. BlackDonald (1039), North Carolina, USA Jun 4, 2008 This one had a little bit more flavor than I was expecting. Also a bit hoppier than I was looking for in the style, but it works for this beer. Its never over the top, and would make a great session beer.. Medium bodied with some roasted caramel maltiness, and a dusting of citrus hops in the finish. Decent.
