Not what I was expecting at all, but then I didn’t realise that, in this case, Rød Ale is a pale beer flavoured with local berries.Very pale peach colour in fact, with a pink tinge. Not much aroma, not mch flavour. I suppose one could call it delicate but underpowerd might be more apt. I kept thinking of blush Zinfandel or even pink Lambrusco. I’m not familiar with the cowberry as a fruit but my guess would be that it is something like a cranberry. Perhaps there was even a very light bitter cherry character, again similar to some of the more lightweight red wines.Intriguing, but weedy, if inoffensive. Doesn’t taste 6%.
JK54B (291), Finland Jun 8, 2008 Nice reddish colour. Average carbonation. Some hints of malts in the nose. Some taste of berries. fiulijn (5860), Como; Lausanne (CH); Malmö (SWE), Italy Jun 6, 2008 Cloudy red-amber color, creamy head. Soft but nice malt aroma, a bit soapy in the beginning. Soft mouthfeel, some sweetness, a light mix of malt and cereals flavor, ordinary bitterness. Luckily the berries are difficult to detect.
