| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jun 20, 2007 Bottle. It looks quite nice, with a clear, dark brown body and a nice, beige head. The aroma is a bit weak, but the usual burnt, coffeish smell is present. Naming the beer Gourmet Stout calls for a more complex aroma. There’s some cocoa notes as well, but they certainly play third violin. The flavor has a pleasant fruitiness to accomplish the elements from the aroma, but it is quite moderate here as well. It could also use a fuller body, but the viscosity of this beer makes it easy to drink. The finish is quite short, but fruity, and with both coffee and chocolate as well as bitterness. I like my stouts fuller and more complex, but this one would go down well on a drinking session, and is certainly the only really decent beer in Aass’ Gourmet series. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 14, 2007 330 ml green bottle. Very dark reddish brown colour (not entirely black), fine tan head. Moderate but pleasant aroma of roasted malts, chocolate and wood. Soft and smooth mouthfeel. The roastiness in the flavour is very moderate for a stout, some coffee notes, there is also a noticeable fruitiness with a light acidity. Easy drinking. Not the greatest stout in the world, but a nice try from Aass. Kestral (212), Oslo, Norway
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 8, 2007 33 cl bottle. Very dark brown with a red tint, light tan head. Nice sweet aroma of caramel and coffee, but the taste doesn’t live up to it. A bit tame, but a nice brew for the money. Quite drinkable.
