Wheat, banana-caramel and some metallic notes in the aroma. Some spicy hints as well. The flavor is much the same, but without the metallic notes. Medium body with a bit too low carbonation level. Sweet, caramel-ish finish with some spicyness. Nice try Aass. (061123) Sigmund (2294), Hafrsfjord, Norway
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Nov 17, 2006 330 ml brown bottle, bought at ICA Middelthon. The first top-fermented beer from Aass in years (they had a brief and unsuccessful try with Aass Hveteøl in 1986). Reddish amber colour. Large and lingering off-white head. Aroma is fruity and moderately spicy, quite nice. Flavour is fruity sweet & sour, with notes of caramel malts. Thin and watery mouthfeel. Not much hops around, weak notes of "dusty" hops and some spice in the finish. Props to Aass for taking a few steps down the Ale Road, but they have a long way to go! larsga (2969), Oslo, Norway
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 13, 2006 Biggish shiny light brown head over clear reddish brown body with a little carbonation. Spicy, clean, faintly acidic wheat aroma with peppery notes. Taste is again spicy, clean, wheat malts with some citric acidity. Aftertaste is dry, slightly papery, wheat malts and pepper, and, in the background, a good dose of hops. This is a good beer, and without the paper it would really be something. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 10, 2006 Bottle. Clear copper with a medium-sized head. Complex aroma of citrus meeting bready maltiness. Wheat flavours the more prominent with quite a bit of dunkelweizen character including banana and clove.Good bitterness provides a refreshingly dry finish. Light body. This must be the perfect complement to heavy Norwegian Christmas meals. OleR (2095), Oslo, Norway
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 8, 2006 Bottle. Dark amber, beige head with good laces. Fruity and malty aroma. Pleasant sweet malt flavor, spicy and slight bitter. The low ABV makes it a bit thin, but overall a very enjoyable Christmas seasonal.

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 8, 2006 Bottle. Creamy white good mostly lasting head. Brown colour. Light malty and heavy yeasty aroma. Nice flavor, average finish. Oily palate. I think this should be placed under dunkelhefe. KnutAlbert (3216), Oslo, Norway
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Nov 2, 2006 Something new from Aass, a Christmas ale brewed with wheat malt. And it works, the citrus zing from the wheat complements the sweetness from the other malt. The objection is that it is too thin and watery. a 7-8% version of this could have been a truly great beer.
