BoBoChamp (618), Gent, Belgium Jul 27, 2008 33cl, from Geers Oostakker, easy to drink, not complex, clear, small head, nothing special SHIG (1466), Oberoffligen, Germany Jul 19, 2008 Bottle: Poured a golden color with a huge off white head. Aroma is citrus fruit along with spices and yeast. Taste was suprisingly malty but subsided to have that sweet fruit and spice. Finish is dry and hoppy. kiefdog (390), Tampa, Florida, USA Jul 14, 2008 33cl bottle from KIngdom Liquors (Tampa, FL). Pours a hazy caramel yellow with a thin white, creamy head that settles rapidly. Little glass lacing. Aroma is citrus, spice, lemon, yeast, fresh bread. Flavor is slightly sweet, somewhat tart with fresh fruit flavors, vanilla, bready yeast, and some subtle spiciness. Lively carbonation with a slightly sweet, quick finish. durhambeer (378), Durham, North Carolina, USA Jun 23, 2008 Bottle with "Heylissem" on the label. A rather unexciting style perhaps, but easy to drink and quite solid. Dark golden/orange pour, and mine was quite cloudy (in contrast to some other raters’ experience). Even some yeasty bits floating around. Abundant off-white head. Yeasty, malty mild apricot nose. More of the same with a bit of spice on the tongue. Surely won’t blow anyone away, but for a solid, low-alcohol everyday Belgian, this is your beer. Perhaps a good ’food beer.’ KimJohansen (3026), Copenhagen V, Denmark May 20, 2008 Clear golden with medium white head. Sweet yeasty aroma with orange peel and spicy notes. Sweet yeasty flavor with fruity notes and a spicy finish.
