(RBESG05, bottle) Crystal clear dark amber body, off-white head. Aroma is moderately sweet, caramel, herbal, some alcohol, light astringency. Taste is sweet, caramel, toffee, some bubblegum, faint banana, some alcohol. Medium-full body, some acidity.

Bottle shared with JCB and some Carolina folks. Odd metallic and stewed tomato notes... WTF? Mostly reminiscent of rotten tomato juice and malt. Not sure what’s going on here.

Bottle shared by JCB, thanks Jason! This one was really weird. Way too sweet overall for me. A bit of brown sugar and a strong vegetal character. Bleh.

Dark brown pour, fairly weak looking with a thin body whose relative lack of abundance is a bad sign. Sure enough,I found the beer a bit too weak and thin for my taste. Rather than the sweet play of malts, fruits, and mild hops I want in a dubbel, this one’s got the flavor of ripe bananas on the downsid. Average, unspectacular.

Thanks JCB for sharing. Pours a lightly translucent brown with ruby highlights. Has a 1-2 finger creamy tan head. The nose is sweet, raisiny, malty, has light caramel tones, rusty/meaty, tomato? Flavor has some fruity esters, meaty/rusty dubbel feel, tomato, lightly earthy. Sweep and carbonated mouthfeel.

Bottle. Dark mahogany, tan fizzy head with reasonable staying power but no lacing. Thin, fizzy mouthfeel. Ginger ale, cola and generic pop-like aroma. Equally thin and flavorless body lacking texture or nuance. Mainly fizzy and malty.
