Dark mahogany appearance with a foamy, tan head. Not a lot of lace. Some hints of spice, coriander mostly, though there is a hint of pepper. Sweet caramel malts with some bitter and orange citrus. Some darker fruits there in the nose. Lots of oranges and coriander in the flavor. Bitter hops as well. Caramel comes back again with just a touch of roastiness. Just a very slight note. There is little bit of heat there as well. The tail is spicy and bitter with a fairly weak body.

From a 750 ml bottle recently purchased at John’s in Iowa CIty. The body is dark brown with ruby high lights on the edge. The head is very large with a light khaki color. The aroma is rootbeer with some plums. There are also some peanut notes. The taste has some prunes with anise and some floral notes. The finish has a hint of roast with tea. The body is fairly thin with a low amount of carbonation. A decent and interesting dubbel.

Caramel, grapes and apple in the aroma. Sweet flavor with caramel, licorice and a touch of roasted malt. Sugary but tasty.

(Bottled, "Brune des Peres sur lie", 6% ABV) Dark, reddish brown with a small, quite tight and lasting head. Quite mild, sweetish-malty aroma with dried fruit and orange-peel. Bitter-sweet, malty flavor with orange, plums and raisins. Not quite as sweet as the aroma suggests. Medium-bodied, slightly thin, bitter-sweet palate with a bit foamy carbonation. A quite decent, but plain and a bit characterless brune.

Dark red brown color, nice medium beige head. Sweet, malty, chocolate, caramel and medium licorice in aroma. Flavor has also strong chocolate with some licorice tones and crispy mouthfeel. Medium bodied. Slightly one dimensional brew, still nice product.
