Pour is hazed opaque burgundy brown with a thin light brown head...smell is musty and sweet with lots of rye/pumpernickel going on...musty dark earth fruits too...taste is dirty dust and musty stuff...like a giant raisin that was covered with dirt and you washed it down with some underattenuated strong ale...

Bottled. For whatever reason I found this stuff to be incredibly good. Lots of sweetness and maltiness. It’s called a tripel but it’s not really a tripel. ANyway I found it better than most.

Bottle and label says 9%ABV versus the 8%ABV shown on this site. Small fizzy tan head, fair amount of lacing, transparent, fast rising carbonation, and a reddish brown hue. Nose was malty, spicy, sweet, and dark fruits. Flavor was malty, spicy, some clove, some citrus and finishes dry. Tingly, dry mouthfeel and medium in body.Quaffable and very mild tasting, but nothing special going on here.

750ml bottle, marked 3/17/07. Pours a deep ruddy brown with cola-like fizzy head and no retention. Very oxidized metallic nose, with hint of spiced fig fruitiness beneath; thin and brittle on the palate, with somewhat cloying dark honey sweetness and unchecked yeast tang. Hops remain in the background, vaguely wooden. A bit of a wild card, probably won’t waste my time with the others.
