From 750ml, drunk three days after "best before" date. Pours dark brown with a tinge of red. Massive head. Taste is of brown bread, toffee and chocolate. All dessert flavors. Creamy body with tight fizz. 9% alcohol doesn’t really show. Very good.

Appearance: Pours a dark reddish brown body with a small, khaki-colored head. Smell: Aroma of musty brown bread baked with brown sugar and earthy spices. Taste: Toasted whole wheat croutons upfront with a candi sugar sweetness and earthy spiciness. A bit of molasses, too. Hop flavor and bitterness is negligible. Hint of grapes and dried cherries on the finish. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Moderate carbonation. Drinkability: Not bad. It manages to nicely walk the line between tripel and some other dark Belgian beer that isn’t a tripel.

Pours a transparent dark copper with a nicely-lacing dark tan head. Aroma of sweet doughy yeast and dark caramel malt with some light fruity esters. Body starts with good thickness and malty sweet notes along with some doughy yeast toward a pretty full finish. A little dark for a trippel, but has nice flavor.

Metalic aroma, some roasted malts, brown sugar, caramelly. Pours dark brown, with a thin but dense off white head. Not a bad brown. Caramel malts, rich brown sugars, cararmelized fruits, not bad. Its much better as it warms, at first sip there wasn’t a lot there. Very smooth.

75cL bottle (BB May/08). Head is initially average sized, frothy/fizzy, light brown, mostly lasting. Body is hazy medium to dark brown, bottle conditioned. Aroma is moderately malty (cookie, toasted bread, caramel), lightly yeasty (cobwebs, basement), with notes of orange zest and coriander. Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately bitter. Medium to full body, watery texture, lively carbonation, lightly to moderately alcoholic. Very similar to the regular Brune, but sweeter and heavier. Enjoyable but again not socks-rocking.

Bottle. Pours cloudy brown with an average, fizzy, light brown head, lasting, good lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (cookie, caramel, nutty), average hops (herbs, grass), average yeast (horse blanket, earth) with notes of apple and pear. Medium bodied, sticky texture, lively carbonation and a bitter finish. Average duration, light sweetness, moderate acidity and bitterness.
