GreatLibations (1294), Sasquatcho, Arizona, USA Jul 2, 2008 Pours gold w/ a tall lasting head reducing to a thin silky sheet. Aromas of malted tropicals. Medium nectar w/ good carbonation. Rich and malty sweet w/ emphasis on banana, pineapple, and nectarine pulp. The finish lingers w/ mild acidic bittering. Some alcohol is revealed in the flavor. A bit brutish and harsh lacking finesse.
Kinz (1916), Glen Allen, Virginia, USA Oct 4, 2008 Pours a clear light amber, decent head lasts well and throws a good lace. Aroma was quite yeast accented, spicy and a bit woodsy. Flavor is caramel accented malts, an undefined fruitiness, lots of yeastiness, spicy, woodsy, and a nice bitter hop finish. The yeast is actually rather reminiscent of Unibroue’s house note, which was the first time I had remembered encountering that in a non-Unibroue brew. Nicely done, quite tasty in fact. Should not that this was more of a Belgian Strong than a Biere de garde in flavor. dkachur (881), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA Sep 23, 2008 Swingtop 750 courtesy cdumler. Amber pour with a medium head. Aroma of candi sugar, fruit and a slightly smoky earthiness. Others trying the same bottle got notes of smoked meat, but I did not. Taste is caramel, stone fruits, candi sugar and spicy hops. Full bodied. Palidor19 (1312), Brandon, Florida, USA Sep 6, 2008 Good beer, it takes some nice French malts with flavor of fruit and the slightly of the earth. Nice and herbly it works all around.
Who says France only makes good wine? nick76 (2054), Tampa, Florida, USA Sep 6, 2008 The aroma is yeasty and sweet with malt and spice. The appearance is golden with a better than average head. The flavor is like the aroma. The palate is thin. Overall it’s nice with a slightly fruity finish. kennydiaz (70), staten island, New York, USA Sep 6, 2008 TO PRICEY BUT POURS A NICE NICE GOLDEN COLOR. HAS NICE FRUITY OVERTONES. RECOMMEND IT IF ITS FREE.
