bbrock81 (193), Le Mars, Iowa, USA Jul 19, 2008 750 mL bottle, swing cap. My first (and only) Biere de Garde. Pours a bright, clear gold with a tall, very thick head that lasts a good while. Leaves a fair amount of lace. Aroma is musty, quite fruity (pears, apples), with some spicy and herbal notes and a bit of a sweet perfume (floral). It’s much better as it warms to nearly room temperature. Flavor is quite sweet, light and fruity, with some malt to it, and the same mustiness as the aroma. The finish is medium, and also sweet. Overall, not bad, but really nothing special.
bu11zeye (3875), Frisco, USA Oct 28, 2008 (750ml bottle, BB 03/28/09) Pours a clear golden body with a medium-sized off-white head that quickly diminishes. Aroma of apple, caramel, hay, alcohol, metallic, black pepper, and mustiness. Flavor of alcohol, yeast, caramel, and apple. Two_Dudes (39), Louisville, Kentucky, USA Oct 26, 2008 Nice beer. Pours a brite light orage amber color. Head is fluffy and lingers. Not sure why this beer wasn’t bottle conditioned. Not as much carbonation as I’d expect from a BdG. Nice hop spiciness. Tart fruit and a slight funkiness. Overall, a good beer. jaghana (21), Strasbourg, France Oct 21, 2008 Bottle 33. This is a typical Belgian style beer.
