Bottle. Amber like unfiltered color with a little quickly disappearing head. Defiantly some Christmas Aroma over this beer. Thinks it was cinnamon, but also some citrus, spicy and hoppy notes to it. I thought it was light-medium bodied with a reasonable bitter-sweet balanced finish. Did feel it had some metallic aftertaste as well. Maybe it was not served at the correct temperature….could be.

75cl. bottle. Clear copper with little white head. Soft and creamy mouthfeel. Alcohol warmth. Very sweet and spicy flavour. Sweet malts. Metallic aroma. Some dark fruits - plums. Lacings on the side of the glass. Ok, but average christmas brew from Belgium.

Pretty, filtered amber with a fine yet discreet head.. Slightly sweet to begin with but well balanced off by the hops. Not very fullbodied in spite of the alcohol, but a quite harmonic beer.

Well, I thought this needed an update as the former one was based by the beer being drinked from the bottle on a cold November day in a park last year. And I was surprised! Not at all as good as I remembered. The beer has an ordinary copper-colour, but Les Brasseurs De Gayant know how to make a head! Beige, big, and dense - it almost looks like whipped cream (Well, in a darker shade). The aroma is quite vineous and and easily cork-like, but also caramellish and alcoholic, allthough nothing special or unexpected in there. The flavor is mainly obvious of caramel and an almost biting sweetness. If I didn’t knew I was drinking an Abbey Dubbel, this could as well be the half and half mix between a pilsner and a mead. If it was another type of beer I would have given it better points for it’s flavor, but for an Abbey Dubbel this beer is clearly below average. There is not much Abbey Dubbel about this one, I must say! The palate is a bit thin, but very creamy - the huge sweetness makes that a necessety, so the beer will not be nauseating. However, It becomes too much anyway , especially when you buy a 75cl bottle like I did.

Bottle. Brown/amber in colour with a nice head. Very malty aroma, with some spicy notes. A malty and caramel taste, speciel for a christmas ale.

Copper color with a white head. The taste is sweet but kind of watery with notes of malts. Finishes kind of bitter.

Bottled: Amber coloured. Light hazy. Creamy dense beige head. Aroma is spiced, fruity and sweet. Flavour is spiced, citric, yeasty and has some sweet and fruity notes. Is light caramelly. Medium bodied. Has a refreshing light spiced end. Very drinkable christmasbrew, that goes well with the fat danish "Julefrokost".
