Commercial Description:
Blanche des Honnelles (1991) was originally very localised, and has since expanded beyond the boundries of the greater and lesser Honnelle rivers, from which it takes it's name. The Blanche des Honnelles leaves the beaten path somewhat. It has an amber colour which is after all the traditional appearance of the Blanches. It is also stronger (6%) than the Blanches that we know. Its taste is surprising and is not comparable to the brews with the same name that are now on the market. If the bouquet is subdued its first flavour is a stark dry sharpness against a pepper background. There is no acidity in this Blanche that is made with three cereals (barley, wheat, oats). It has a stimulating taste, leaving a subdued but refreshing final impression. Lots of character and curious.

Hazy blond with tight disc of foam on top. Low carbonation. Quite a soft, sweet flavour with only a little citrus coming through in the finish.

Bottle Hopduvel Gent. Pours hazy blond with a huge white head. Lots of floaties and yeast as always from this brewery. Very nice aroma, spices, peppery cloves, coriander, citrus, soap and bitter dough. Very very refreshing due to its thin watery body. St.Bernardus wit is a tad better than this one imo.

Bottle 33 cl. Pours a muddy yellow with a bright white nice head. There are sediments of yeasts turning the beer into their own waterworld playground... funny but not great looking. The nose is mild with notes of apricots, pepper, soap and horse-stables. The3 taste is nice and fresh. Again the flavour is low key and mild and brings no suprises but the freshness... which is also a quality. There is notes of peaches and cream, light spicies and some yeasts. The finish is rather metalic, Very drinkable and not very demanding.. hey ho! lets pop some more.

Dégusté avec french tickler le 11 avril 2007. Murky golden poor with lots of sediments. Creamy off-white head. Aromas of coriander, creme brule, caramel, apple puree, corn, lightly peppered and subtile notes of peaches. Extremely well balanced beer. I’ve never tasted a Witbier with so many flavors. A nice mixed explosion of spices and fruits. Perfect malts and yeasts as are most of the beers from this brewery. Very Satisfied!

Bottle, from the Oxford Beer Festival. Warm copper with large yeasty chunks, (an endearing Abbaye des Rocs quirk), smallish layer of rough white head. Very subtle orange spice nose, rather low aroma volume. Bright peppery carbonation, slight dill bitterness and a bit more orange peal. Initial sweetness scrubs away nicely and leaves a little clove touch in the finish. Not the rockstar of the Abbey des Rocs line-up, but a fine beer.
