Gusler (2656), Tucson, Arizona, USA Oct 26, 2007 After its release from the 750ml bottle, its sets in the glass a murky orange highlighted copper color with a substantial creamy white head that disappears rather quickly leaving a thick and clinging sheet of lace. Nose is filled with fruit and spices, oranges, bananas, tart apples, coriander, cloves, sweet and tart, clean and refreshing, a pleasure to sniff. Start is sweet and spicy, hints of pepper, at the back a touch of bitterness, and or that “Granny Smith Apple” kind of face puckering tartness, top is medium in feel. Finish has a biting acidity, the hops and spices provide a sweet and sour tangy dry aftertaste, which coats the palate
Chrism86 (57), Melbourne, Australia Aug 29, 2008 Pours dull orange with fizzy white head. Aromas are dominated by wheat and spice. Palate shows more complexity some honey and chewy caramel are present albeit subtle, while wheat brings with it a touch of sourness that complements the hinting citrus. Yeasty spice drives home the finish. Carbonation is quite lively, giving the impression of a dry finish. I can appreciate that this example is really well balanced etc but honestly I’m not that big a fan of the style. thornecb (1054), Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA Aug 24, 2008 Pours gold into a tumbler. Fizzy soda pop head quickly recedes to nothing. Wheat and coriander aromas. Crisp with cereal and malt upfront and a lasting citrus finish. cluny6 (61), Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England Aug 13, 2008 Pours a rather cloudy, opaque "muddy" orange. Lots of yeast particules present.. Medium head that dissaperas in a few minutes. Yeast is very prominent in the aroma as well as bread. You can definetly taste the cereals in this beer. Slightly citric, tarty taste. Very different kinof wheat beer. Excellent. A+ in it’s category Mes_and_Sim (4320), Highgate, Greater London, England Aug 10, 2008 A Mes rate: Bottle from Kris Wine Hazy golden brown with a thin white head that quickly settled to nothing in a violent fizz. Lovely estery aroma with some nice fruity hops and a lick of vanilla. Similar flavour that somehow retains an Abbaye des Rocs character. Superb spicy bitterness in the finish. More blonde than wit I think but still jolly good. Unholy_Brewing (287), Melbourne, Australia Aug 7, 2008 ...bottle from Cloudwine. Poured a darkish orange, with lots of tight bubbles, and a small white head that lasted for a good while. On the nose, majorly wheat, maybe a slight hint of hops, but nothing else. Medium bodied, decent flavor, slightly weird from the pepper notes, but not the typical orange\corriander duo. Dry finish, with a weird aftertaste, but wasn’t too bad. Not bad, but rather expensive and not worth it.
