Beautiful. Pours a deep mahogany/burgundy with a creamy tan head. Nose full of floral, malt, toast, caramel, and hops. Palate shares vinous, fruity, malty, trappist, and hop characteristics that coalesce in a beautiful, well crafted beer. Unbelievable.

750mL bottle. Let me state that I have yet to have a Abbaye des Rocs beer that has not been jam packed full of large yeasties to the point that you can feel them on your tongue. Pours with a small, creamy, off-white head that stays and leaves great lacing. Tons of little yeasties (thankfully not large chunks on the first pour) in the deep amber body. Aroma of Grand Marnier, yeast, dark fruits, candi sugar. Taste is sticky sweet with orange, yeast and alcohol. Creamy mouthfeel, light bubbles. I am not the biggest fan of this beer.

33cl bottle, Hopduvel Ghent. Pours ruby brown with a small beige head. No UFOs from my bottle. Nose is like walking into a candyshop. Aromas include cherries, apples, pears, bananas, ... Flavors obviously on the sweeter side but not in a sticky fashion. Soft carbonation, medium bodied, mouthfeel is just good. Very drinkable for this ABV. Very good beer.

Dark ruby brown with thick white head. Malt and caramel aroma. Raisins and toffee flavor. Nice one.

Deep brown pour with small tan head. Floaty bits. Full aroma with many dried fruits. Powerful palette with spice, fruits malt galore and caramel. Magnificent.

pours a gorgeous reddish brown with a thick off-white head that slowly fades to a film that covers the entire surface. maybe i’ve just gotten better at this, or maybe it’s due to the smaller bottle, but this one didn’t seem to gush quite the way i’ve seen brasserie des rocs beers have in the past. this is not a complaint. also, not as "crunchy", shall we say, as others from this brewery, with visible yeast in suspension, but not quite the chunks of it. smell is awesome spicy belgian malt, with burnt brown sugar and loads of dark and overripe fruits-raisins, plums, figs, all that good stuff. the esters come out even stronger in the taste, with notes of berries joining the crowd. cherries and strawberries, dark overripe fruits, non-phenolic spice, belgian candi malt, burnt brown sugar, all these things playing together in a delicious rhapsody. oh, and as the beer goes down, the head doesn’t--there is a thick wall surrounding half of the glass with virtually no holes. just a solid sheet of head. finish is lightly sweet, but not at all cloying, and the mouthfeel is just right. this is a wholly enjoyable beer. really, really good.

Muddy orange brown body. Aroma malts and fruits. Flavor is sweet with notes of orange and dried fruits. The finale i sweet fruity and not bitter.

750 ml - wow, this is one of those nice rarity in today’s market for sure; a highly rated beer from belgium for only $7 - and a 750 no less!!! pours light brown with thin off-white head; lots of yeast floaties; grand cru-ish in aromas; sweet candy and raw spice aromas; texture feels thin, but has a heaviness to it; very sweet and quite unique; fruity flavors and textures improve greatly with temperature; very strong and yummy
