11.2 oz bottle best b 4 2010 poured lite brown with lots of floaters that rose to the top of this very carbonated brew very lively from the time i cracked the top aromas of fruits,vineger,dough and nalts taste was a sour funk I couldn’t finish the bottle it had to be infected so i will have to re rate this one some day soon i hope

Dec 3, 2009 Small bottle 2008 vintage. Muddy brown pour with thin white head. Buttery, nutty, sweet aromas. Some caramel toffey flavors, more hazelnuts. Nice sugars. Rich creamy full mouthfeel. Best bottle of this I’ve had so far.

Dec 3, 2009 I really enjoy this. This is the first one that I’ve had that’s not a gusher and it is much better than the others (all of the same 4 pack). Excellent spiced cake and candied fruit smell with some musty barn in the back. Flavor is like brown sugar spiked with rum soaked citrus peel with the lack of carbonation in this particular bottle helping me pick up better flavors. For how rich it is, it finishes very light and refreshing. Great brew that hits a whole lot of spots. Thank You Abbaye de Rocs. 2009 12oz.

Nov 28, 2009 Bottle - 33cl. A serious, lively beer. You can’t open it enough safely to prevent the explosion. Pours hazy, brownish, ruby red color with a long life beige head. It’s the same explosion in the aromas. Alcoholic figs, prunes, caramelized malts with a hint of cognac character. Its very sweet and bold, malty in flavors but not overwhelming, very natural and you can feel there is no sugar added actually. Finishes too abruptly, just leaves a
medium sweet liquorice or molasses feel in the tounge. A bit of alcohol is sensible at the medium. Could be a lot more smooth on the palate with more subtle carbonation. A rich and enjoyable dark-brown ale with some detph but doesn’t seem too unique in flavors to me at this time.

Nov 23, 2009 Bouteille de 750 ml, au Bières et Bouffe. Arômes fruités (fruits rouges, pruneaux). Robe rousse foncée, beaucoup de particules en suspension, effervescence moyenne. Bien ronde en bouche, la bière montre une belle complexité de malt (caramel, chocolat) et de fortes notes fruitées (fruits rouge, pruneaux). Finale relativement alcoolisée. Rappelle vaguement la Dominus Vobiscum Double de Charlevoix.

Nov 23, 2009 Pours a lovely ruby with a thin ring of pure white and no lace. Heavenly aroma - yum yum yum! So sweet - cherries and sherry and everything sweet and wonderful. Vanilla, raisin, cherry, and sweet malt taste - lingering fruitiness. Very tasty! Thin and undercarbonated, but who the hell cares? Fantastic tasting, I could drink this forever. Sweet and fruity and dangerously quaffable.

Nov 16, 2009 This dark reddish liquid poors a modest head. Smell is light sour and fruity. The first tastes that come up are caramel, coffee and some other burnt scents together with a tiny bit of berries. Fresh bitters are not very present but just enough. After-taste is mild and a bit one dimensional. A very good beer but the overall palate has room for more complexity.

Nov 14, 2009 Aroma of yeast, prunes and toffee. Appearance is red with white head. Flavor is sweet with prunes and raisins. A goof but not very complex beer.

Nov 14, 2009 A nose of pears, amaretto and sugars. Taste is of pears, banana, almonds, marzipan and quite a bit of alcohol. A strange brew. Not complex and very unbalanced. A bad bottle? I will rerate if I get the chance.
