| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 31, 2009 Fat malts with heaps of demerara about them. Light burnt flavours and sweet toffee give way to quite a drying bitterness. Very long in the finish with the burnt woodiness coming to the fore. Quite easy drinking but with a great depth and intensity about it.

Aromas of spice, coriander, yeast, and alcohol. Flavor has an alcohol taste to it, mixed with a nice smokey dark fruit. Also has strong hints of spice and orange. GRM (1283), Aylmer, Quebec, Canada

| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Dec 14, 2009 Dark amber/brown color, light brown head. Very complex aroma: malty, fruity and a bit spicy. Alchoolic.
A wonderful sweetness with a nice carbonation. Medium to full body.
Just a bit of bitter in the end balances the taste. Cannot find wrong points in this beer. A must to drink in my opinion. hubcrawler (37), , Virginia, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 12, 2009 Pours a burnt red with a modest amount of carbonation and a creamy white head. This bear possesses an interesting variety of flavors and aromas. There is a prominent aroma of malt with some underlying notes of hops and prunes. The taste is an interesting blend of malt, yeast, and noticeable banana. The brew is moderately thick and there is an unctuous residual flavor that is left on the palate. | 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | Dec 5, 2009 Caramel, nuts, and toasted bread on the nose. This beer poured a phenomenal brown color with amazing lacing and head retention. It has TONS of floaties and just seeing this beer made me even thirstier. Don’t even get me started on the taste...superior craftsmanship with sweet, caramel, clove, and general amazingness. Smooth on the palate and sweet after taste. Overall this is hands down the best brown ale I’ve ever had. JulienHuxley (235), Trois-Rivieres, Quebec, Canada
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 2/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Dec 3, 2009 Small bottle 2008 vintage. Muddy brown pour with thin white head. Buttery, nutty, sweet aromas. Some caramel toffey flavors, more hazelnuts. Nice sugars. Rich creamy full mouthfeel. Best bottle of this I’ve had so far. 41cubs (149), , New Jersey, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 3, 2009 I really enjoy this. This is the first one that I’ve had that’s not a gusher and it is much better than the others (all of the same 4 pack). Excellent spiced cake and candied fruit smell with some musty barn in the back. Flavor is like brown sugar spiked with rum soaked citrus peel with the lack of carbonation in this particular bottle helping me pick up better flavors. For how rich it is, it finishes very light and refreshing. Great brew that hits a whole lot of spots. Thank You Abbaye de Rocs. 2009 12oz.
