ClarkVV (3547), Allston, Massachusetts, USA Sep 19, 2005 11.12oz bottle consumed on 9/17/2005. Smells like a thick Belgian-yeasted pils at first. Bit of corn/vanilla and maybe a touch of bubblegum. Moderately sweet pils malt in the nose as well. Very hazy, ripened peach/apricot body with a huge, dense, off-white head. Very well-retained and lots of lacing. Light citrus (tangerines, light oranges) and peaches. Very yeasty with some white pepper and spicy fresh hops. Abb. des Rocs must have the best smelling beers in the world! Flavor begins with fruity, yeasty complexity, quite heavy on the yeast at first. Very soft, supple palate. Oranges, light caramel, peaches and just slightly bitter hops that linger on the finish. Yeasty, hoppy and malty all in good balance. Malt could stand to be a little bit more expressive to give a slight edge on the strong yeastiness; but it’s delicious none the less. Smooth and drinkable, very low carbonation. I’m surprised how hoppy it is, especially on the finish. More flavors on the palate include a bit of cake icing, touch of vanilla, pale grains and light yeast on the end. This brewery never ceases to amaze!
theisti (1014), Leawood, Kansas, USA Aug 18, 2008 11.2 fl oz bottle purchased at Royal on 103rd in Kansas City, Missouri. Best before end of 2008 on bottle. Pour is orange ruby with tons of chunky floaties. Two inch head is clear white. The huge chunks of yeast or protein or whatever were odd because the bottle was not disturbed at all and I left the last 1/3 in the bottle on the initial pour. Aroma of dirty sweetness, some rock candy sugar and Belgian yeast. Taste is sharp sweetness. Honey, cloying. Palate is chunky and chewy. Aftertaste is lasting, and sharply acidic with some alcohol heat. This one didn’t do it for me, not a bad beer, just not my type of thing. jredmond (597), New Jersey, USA Aug 16, 2008 Bottle. Pours a very hazy orange body with some head; also with tons of sediment floating around. The aroma is some what spicy and some tart as well. The taste is very smooth, you can barely taste the 7.5% abv. Very enjoyable and pleasant beer to drink. Pwn3d (591), NYC, New York, USA Aug 16, 2008 750ml bottle purchased at Stateline liquor @ MD/DE border. For a blonde it is the creme of the crop but right off the bat you could tell this is in a league of its own. Hued orange, nice white head, and near excessive amounts of sediment. Backing up the fact that every Rocs Ive had to date looks incredible. Mouth feel is medium bodied, vivacious and smooth. Taste was gentle, no indications of 7.5%. Awesome. french tickler (473), Aylmer, Quebec, Canada Aug 13, 2008 Shared with Pyrozoid
