goozen (785), Leiden, Netherlands Jan 19, 2008 Bottle 0,33ltr:Hazy brown ale from this pleasant brewery, well sweet and very fruity.
BartC (271), Lichtaart, Belgium Oct 12, 2008 At the Kulminator Antwerp. Dark beer with a small head. Fruity aroma: dark fruits like raisins and plums. I find these in the taste as well. Also a bit of chocolate and caramel. Notes of alcohol at the end. The_Epeeist (1002), Swarthmore, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 12, 2008 33 cl bottle, best by end of 2004. Dark purple brown with a brief tannish head. Smells like fruitcake with some banana. Medium body with a sharp tingle. Taste is raisin, over-ripe plum, nutmeg and clove. Finishes with slightly bitter stale spices and burnt sugar. Rich and malty but surprisingly nondescript. rederic (1491), montréal, Quebec, Canada Sep 11, 2008 750ml bottle, hazy dark amber hue, with some floaties swirling around and a white head, yeasty, spicy, fruity nose, with some toasty, caramelized malt notes, with a chocolatey, curaçao, clove spiciness, with some aromas of dark dried fruits of raisin, date and plum follow through on a full-bodied palate with a yeasty, fruity, spicy, toasted, caramelized malt character, with some candied orange peel, raisiny, datey, plummy accents, with a hint of nutmeg, clove, brown chocolate, some candy sugar, within a warmth mouthfeel, leading towards a malty, chocolatey, warming finish. Pours muddy dark brown with a fine, creamy off-white head. Diminishes quickly to a film at one side of my glass. Floaties? yeah, of course, it’s abbaye de rocs. Aroma is wonderful, sweet, lots of plums, raisins, rye bread, slight spiciness. Low carbonation, very creamy mouthfeel. Flavour has yeast, sweet maltiness, some raisin character and a definite viniousness. Overall, a very complex beer and a wonderful experience, drinking this in the searing heat of the Danish pre-summer :o)
