Dark berry/ruby color with tan head and lots of yeast sediment. Smells a little maltier that the Grand Cru or Brune. The flavor is bland upfront, then it hits you with a strong caramel malty flavor with dark fruits and brown sugar. I like this much better that the Brune/Grand Cru. It also has a very good body and carbonation with slight bitter finish. Yum!

Bottle. Bit hazy amber-red colour. Aroma is a bit sour with dark malt and bread. Soft mouthfeel. Nice well toasted maltiness, good caramel sweetness with a comfortable mild sourness, spices and some dark fruits in the flavour.

Bottle @ thewolf tasting.
Bought @ Wohlenbergs, Sřnderborg.
Pours a wonderful clear red amber with a medium creamy beige-brown head. Sweet aroma, lots of dried fruits, some tarty berries and good caramel. Fine, creamy mouthfeel with lots of nice little bubbles. Flavour is soft, berries, superbly balanced between tart and sweet. Really complex and wonderful.

Pours dark brown with thick, lasting one finger head. Aroma off toffee and yeast with some candies fruits and citrus notes. Taste much the same. Full mouthfeel. Extremely smooth. Delicious. Seems much more like a quad than a triple.

Bottle. A hazy, golden-orange beer with the typical Abbaye des Rocs floaties. Dried fruits, alcohol, malty sweetness and some spices in the aroma. The flavor is sweet and spiced, with dried fruits as well. Sweetish, full-bodied beer. I would like the floaties to go away, but it’s sure one hell of a beer. (080118)

bottle - Pours dark brown with a huge lingering head, but the many large floaters makes it not a terribly attractive beer though. It smells of malt and yeast with a touch of dark fruit. The flavors are mainly sweet caramel malt, candy sugar, and yeast. The 10% abv is truly buried under all that sweetness. It is perhaps a little too sweet, but still very enjoyable.

I really thought the bartendress brought me the wrong beer when I took a whiff and then a sip of this beer. It is not like a Triple in any way, but I guess it’s "imperial," so you can do what you want with it. This beer is cerealy and sweet, which is a flavor I tend to avoid/dislike, but in this case it is carried off reasonably well. Still, mixed feelings on this one and I wouldn’t call it a favorite of mine. It poured a muddy brown with a medium head. Aroma is very malted-milk-ball-like, with a lot of grainy sweet cereal smell to it backed with some fruitiness. Taste was similar, with some additional complexity in the malt flavor becoming clear after a few sips and after it warmed a bit. There was no spice flavor that I usually associate with triples, and the fruitiness that was present was pretty minimal and confined to the finish of this beer. The beer in no way tasted alcohol-y, particularly for a beer with 10% ABV. Mouthfeel was smooth and good. I’m a bit conflicted; this beer was not true to style (as I understand the style), exhibited a flavor that I usually dislike, but managed to pull it off in a way I thought was kind of pleasant. So I will recommend this beer. I had a bottle of this at The Room in Miami Beach, FL.

Bottle. Hazy orange body with floaters. Medium, short lasting beige head. Aroma is sweet malt, dry fruit, candy sugar, caramel and alcohol. Flavor as aroma. This is nice, a bit to sweet and quite hot (warming alcohol.) Somehow a feel this is not exactly as complex as a few other great brews from this brewery. It’s no trippel for sure and I feel the brune is a lot more complex. Not bad, just not fantastic.
