| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 23, 2007 Pours out a little head that falls into a very thin head that’s almost gone. Very weak lacing that’s barely noticeable. Smell is very sugary, like caramel. Kinda nice. The taste is very sweet, with dark fruit undertones. Mouthfeel is just fine, pretty good. I would drink this again, but it seems like I would like a newer beer and it would be even better. oh6gdx (9047), Vasa, Finland
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 19, 2007 Bottled. Deep ruby red colour, small off-white head. Aroma is caramel yeast, alcohol and slightly glueish. Flavour is alcohol, raisins, fruits and mildly glueish notes. Wellbalanced. The aftertaste leaves a lot of fruits and raisins. sayravai (3760), Helsinki, Finland
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 18, 2007 (Bottled) Very hazy dark brown with a small, but lasting head. Lots of dark and dried fruit in the aroma with some malty sweetness. Grainy-malty, very dark-fruity flavor with bitterish hops and roastiness. Almost full-bodied with smooth carbonation. An enjoyable, lighter, yet a bit too sweet version of the regular Abbaye des Rocs. Doesn’t change much with yeast. Drink4Satan (586), Bristol, Rhode Island, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Dec 17, 2007 Just like their Grand Cru, the glass is filled with suspended particulates that just don’t settle. Active micro-bubble carbonation percolates upward, but the yeast particles just sit there. The head is massive and puffy, fading slowly to a tan film. The nose is very sugary, with candied orange, toffee, figs, plum, corriander and pear. Hardly any booze is detectable in the aroma. The flavour is insanely sweet and yeasty, with that bubblegum yeast, caramel and bouquet of fruits and herbal hops. Very nice velvety, full-bodied mouthfeel with gentle carbonation. The finish is not-so-dry and leaves a lingering candied fruits and well-hidden alcohol that is noticable only as a warming of the throat. Another dangerously strong ale. emerica56 (583), Bristol, Rhode Island, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 17, 2007 This beer was dumped into a trappist glass and foams right up with a thick head that was reall sudsy looking. It has a redish brown color with massive suspended particulate matter with what looked like a ferris whell as the matter was swirling in a circular motion in the center of the glass, The aroma is nice and sweet with fruity malt and lots of cherry and mild hops. As you drink it you can feel the tingle of the particulate rush over your lips into your mouth. There is that nice initial bitterness with malt and cherry and the presance of booze. I personally enjoy the warming swet finish it has along the sides of my mouth. Lowe1983 (1029), Fairborn, Ohio, USA

Aroma is of dark fruits, caramel malts, candied sugar, and some alcohol. Flavor is pretty sweet with the candied sugar and dark fruits. Finishes with a decent alcohol warming. A pretty delicious brew.
