| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 5, 2007 Bark brown with a large tan head. Aroma is spicy, floral and effervescent. Taste is far more refined and balanced than most tripels I have had, and there is almost no hint of alcohol, and no cloying sugar aftertaste. $8/750 Nate (2558), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Feb 25, 2007 Picked up at State Line Liquors, paired with a bowl of hutsepot at maltydogs - went well with the escargot. Light yeasty aromas, estery, with neutral fruit and decent sweetness. Some fruit skin, tannin, and woody notes. Amber clear with some floaties. Thin foamy lacing head. Medium watery body with light carbonation. Starts sweet, with honey and candi sugar. Fruity pear, plum. Yeasty with light alcohol notes. Mild bittering at the finish but sweet and fruity after. Decent ’tripel’ but a bit watery in my opinion. footy (334), scottsdale, Arizona, USA

Hazy beer bottle brown with large beige head. Fresh fruit cherry and orange aroma. The taste consists of coriander and orange. Very good taste. Not as sharp as Westmalle. Which I think is a good thing mhelgason (495), Charlotte, North Carolina, USA

The head was creamy, off-white. The aroma was fruity, tart, ale, alcohol, and berries. The flavor was yeast, alcohol, and citris. The palate had wonderful carbonation. The finish was warm, as can be expected. emacgee (1892), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Feb 3, 2007 Pours a deep burgudy red with a lot of sediment. The head is the result of nice carbonation, tan, thick, creamy. The aroma is sweet, smells like wood, aged fruit, spice, caramel, candied fruit. Very nice aroma. THe flavor is smooth, wood, aged fruit, and a slight dryness. The flavor is much more mellow. The aged fruit/wine taste is much smoother and less dry. The alcohol is pretty subdued. The palate is crisp and well carbonated. The finish is warm and crisp. boboski (1095), Alabama, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Jan 29, 2007 Cloudy brown pour with earthy oranges and reds, like a sunset flickering away at the end of dusk. Small beige head leaves thick lacing totally covering the glass. Typical stunning des Rocs aroma includes caramels, berries, soft wood, sweet oranges, toffee, sugar plums, candy sugar, spices too subtle to be picked apart. Flavor is absolutely magnificent, with more fruits and sweet malts in a candy coated blend of elegance. Palate is very thick and velvety, a coating blanket of cherry cheesecake consistency. Finishes warm and soft, floral hops and spicy/sweet dark malts playing a coordinated tune long after the final sip. What luxurious and opulent flavor, cascading down my throat like a tidal wave of silk. This stuff is ON. Incredibly quaffable for such a thick and rich Belgian. And then it’s gone, all too soon. My favorite des Rocs offering if not for the tantalizing brune. sliffy (2012), Columbus, Ohio, USA
