Bottle. Dark, ruby red color with a hazy body. Great pour with a sudsy, beige colored head. Nose is malty and sugary with some yeast, dark fruit, and pear. Great flavor. Sweet and bitter at the same time with a smooth, alcohol laced finish (with a bit of yeast). More fruit in the flavor too, and lots of candy sugar. Mouthfeel is very bubbly and buttery. Great beer, my girlfriend even liked it, so I think that means it’s pretty approachable...

Bottle - deep, rich amber body. Beige head with amazing retention. Tons of huge chunks of yeast. Big yeasty nose. Very sweet throughout. Very fruity and yeasty. A very nice beer. I taste none of the 10% - very smooth.

In short: A thick and big Belgian brown ale that doesn’t feel heavy or cloying. Amazing
How: Bottle, many times, different aging. This re-write for a 1 year old bottle
The look: Cloudy brownish copper with lots of small particles topped by a medium long-lasting beige head
In long: Nose is thick caramel, candies, nutty and birch three. Taste is big and complex. Luscious caramel over dried dark fruits, hazelnuts, birch tree resin, a mix of black and red liquorice candies, cherries skin, No boring residual sugar or candy sugar here, the body is decadent with an overload of thick caramelized malts. The rich maltiness is right up there with Het Anker. A definite trappist feeling. A splendid beer along with her sister, the Des Rocs Grand Cru. Do sister beers share labels and fight over shelf space?

Thick frothy off-white head. Deep ruby/amber body. Thick chunks of yeast in the body. Grassy belgian spice, vanilla brownies, fruit, good spice. Body is initially a little thinner than expected, but my tongue warms up nicely to it. Four-packs of these will be common at my place when I stop trying new beer.

Cloudy brown/ruby, plenty of floaties, tight tan head. Nose is heaps of plum/dark fruits, brown sugar, caramel, yeasty old ale (vinous) characteristics. Flavor is sweet but in no way cloying dark fruits, yeast, apples/must, slight oxidation works here. Grape soda, a bit of alcohol and pepper in the finish along w. dark fruits and butterscotch. Mmm.

330ml bottle. Dark brown pour with a nice white head. The white head is leaving a nice lacing around the outside of my glass. Smelling fruit and hints of alcohol. Tastes are definitely fruit something sweet molasses like. The description is correct, this beer tastes as if it were for kings! Brilliant!

750 ml bottle. Dark mahogany pour with a rocky brown head that lasted for quite a while, then left nice lacing. Aromas were raisin and other dried fruit with caramel and molassas. Anise was strong too. Flavors were similar with more dried fruit and molasssas. Add alcohol in the middle along with some slight dustiness in the finish. Wonderful, Wonderful, Wonderful.
