Very complex vinous brew with an excellent flavor. Strong flavors with complex esters, plum and grape flavors. Keep this for a long time and this on ewill aprove with age. Drink with a nice steak and mushrooms dinner. joeyplush (337), Garnet Valley, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 2, 2009 Peculiar Pub: Rockin! Aroma is strong (maybe too strong), the fermented sugars and dark fruits, hops? are readily available. Pour is brown, some cloudiness, some sediment as well. The taste is very balanced, medium complexity. Fruits, honey/ caramel, malts flood the mouth, there is an alcohol finish which is balanced by the yeast and soft sugars. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 25, 2009 Corked 750ml bottle, served in a tulip. Hazy brown pour with large flakes of sediment and a two-finger thick head of fizzy tan foam that settled into a lasting cap. Slippery lacing. The aroma had alcohol-soaked raisins and plums, sweet candi sugar, and a bit of earthy yeast. The flavor was sweet and boozy. Tons of dark fruit along with sweet caramel. The mouthfeel was full-bodied and had a moderate amount of tingly carbonation. A little too sweet for me. Not bad. mgermani (865), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 2/5 | 8/10 | 2/5 | 15/20 | May 9, 2009 Pours a swampy brown with large globs and (before I was forced to strain it) an pleasant off-white head and no lacing. Aroma is a,amazing - sweet, dark fruit, nothing like a triple, as the label had suggested. Lovely sweet fruity malting balanced against light hops opens up into sweet candy finish, overripe plums and baked apple, touch of spice. I actually had to strain this beer, as it was so thick with flocculent globs as to make it undrinkable - it had a thin pudding-like texture. So I strained it, and the body has decent carb with a thin but coating mouthfeel. Very, very tasty but I wish I didn’t have to lose a third of the mass to large gelatinous globs in my strainer. I will try and obtain another sample for rating. BeerFanDan17 (621), Land O Lakes, Florida, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | May 3, 2009 Poured a very murky brown. not as dark as most strong dark ales.
nice lacing, poofy head falls apart slowly.
Smells of hot dog water and cat food.
Smell is not this beer’s strong suit.
Taste is very similar to St. Bernardus 12. Very rich and nutty, but not too big that the yeast isnt present. The yeast on this one puts off some great esters. Notes of dark stone fruits, brown sugar, and clovy spice.
Not cloying at all, good balanced mouthfeel, not too sweet, not too dry, just very pleasant.
