Corked 750ml bottle, served in a tulip. Hazy brown pour with large flakes of sediment and a two-finger thick head of fizzy tan foam that settled into a lasting cap. Slippery lacing. The aroma had alcohol-soaked raisins and plums, sweet candi sugar, and a bit of earthy yeast. The flavor was sweet and boozy. Tons of dark fruit along with sweet caramel. The mouthfeel was full-bodied and had a moderate amount of tingly carbonation. A little too sweet for me. Not bad.

Pours a swampy brown with large globs and (before I was forced to strain it) an pleasant off-white head and no lacing. Aroma is a,amazing - sweet, dark fruit, nothing like a triple, as the label had suggested. Lovely sweet fruity malting balanced against light hops opens up into sweet candy finish, overripe plums and baked apple, touch of spice. I actually had to strain this beer, as it was so thick with flocculent globs as to make it undrinkable - it had a thin pudding-like texture. So I strained it, and the body has decent carb with a thin but coating mouthfeel. Very, very tasty but I wish I didn’t have to lose a third of the mass to large gelatinous globs in my strainer. I will try and obtain another sample for rating.

Very delicious. Poured dark orange with a nice frothy head. Nice chunks of yeast throughout. Flavors were dark cherry and chocolate. Very nice!

Poured a very murky brown. not as dark as most strong dark ales. nice lacing, poofy head falls apart slowly. Smells of hot dog water and cat food. Smell is not this beer’s strong suit. Taste is very similar to St. Bernardus 12. Very rich and nutty, but not too big that the yeast isnt present. The yeast on this one puts off some great esters. Notes of dark stone fruits, brown sugar, and clovy spice. Not cloying at all, good balanced mouthfeel, not too sweet, not too dry, just very pleasant.

750ml bottle. This one was funky strait out of the gate. Nose was like hotdog water, cat food and bbq sauce all rolled into one. Flavor was nice though, sweet with some candied dark fruits. I think we had an old bottle, this brew was an enigma.

With great thanks to HogTownHarry. I’ve a feeling that this has 4 years ageing on it! Appearance: Brown body with HUGE floaties, simply huge. Medium off white head. Aroma: Sweet and sour, bitter and caramel, very contrasting. Flax seed and dark grape with spices and earth. Flavour: Lumpy due to flecks! Caramel and deep dark Christmas fruit cake, almost sickly, thick and chewy with a long long malty fruit finish.

Sample at La Chatelaine. The beer is a murky ruddy brown color with a medium tan head that recedes slowly. Rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of dark fruits and malt, plus notes of caramel and yeast. The finish is fruity with yeast and earthy malt left over. Good all around.
