Nov 21, 2009 Cask at The Wellington, BIrmingham (21-Sept-09). Dask copper-brown in colour with a short head. Light grassy-hoppy scent. Thin. Straw and grassy malts. A bit sticky in the mouth. OK.

Apr 27, 2009 Cask, The Figure of Eight (JDW), Broad Street, Birmingham. Sampled as part of a trio of festival thirds, but not officially listed as a festival beer. Good to see them dishing up something obscure and local alongside the nationally available stuff. Caramelised sugar aroma. Tawny red with a swirl of a head. Cherry boiled sweet and candy floss-driven in the local style. Cherryish, buttery and flimsy, but I (quite) like it. Varnish splashes. Marginally better than (and not dissimilar to) the John Smith’s Heritage.

Mar 29, 2009 Cask conditioned at The Lamp Tavern, Birmingham. Amber with white head. Quite a perfumed flowery beer, green with a sweetish note. Quite low impact on flavour, really fairly dull.
