| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 23, 2007 Dark brown with a huge cream head. Yeasty, ashy aroma that conceals some gentle sweet fruitiness. Sweet honeyed malt taste is rather obscured by the metallic prickle of the carbonation, which I suppose also conceals the alcohol. Not an exciting finish. NoiZe (1371), Mooi Zeist, Netherlands
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Mar 11, 2007 Dark brownish colour. Malty aroma. Too sweet and carbonated to be real nice. Too bad. caesar (3034), Bunnik/Utrecht, Netherlands
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jan 7, 2007 Dark brown color, medium brown head. Weak aroma, some fruit, malty. Taste of malts and sweetness. Heavy on the stomach, probably because of the high carbonation. I like my double to be creamy instead of carbonating. skortila (2905), Bunnik, Netherlands
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jan 7, 2007 Aroma of apples and caramel malts. Hazy, brown coloured with a medium brown head. Taste is sweet and quite carbonated. Probably there is something nice in this beer, but overcarbonation hides it. eczematic (1198), Sydney, Australia

"dubbel" leads me to expect a westmalle dubbel type thing but this is more like goudenband than anything else. murky brown with a very dense, creamy cover of foam. smells of melanoidins, some herbal hops, caramel, and a good helping of some wild raspberry-ester yeastiness. in the mouth some warm caramelly sweetness rolls out into a gentle, leathery, woody tartness. not sour like a cantillon, or vinegary like a duchesse, but definitely involving some wild stuff. very moreish and drinkable for an 8%er, still, on the restrained side intensity-wise.
