Bottle, traded with Jbrus. Standard amber appearance. Nice fruity smell that flows into the delicious nectarine-peach flavor. Malty, bready, very complex and nice! An exemplary dubbel. I am glad that I chose to share this beer with the other raters at the March 2003 Dallas gathering, even though I kind of wish I had the whole bottle to myself ;)

The colour is quite dark-brown, little caramel-shine in it. The head is brownish. The aroma is spicy, little bit sweet. There is also some sweet in the flavour, some caramel. I like this beer.

Good looking dark brown dubbel with beige head. Caramel taste. Rather high alcohol percentage.

Pours a big lace head over a reddish deep brown body. Woody/musty hints in prunes, gentle fruity flavors with an alcoholic effervescence. Very nice--thanks aceofhearts for your generosity!

Bottled (at the Rate Beer gathering at Flying Saucer, Addison).
Deep ruby with rich head. Dry prune aroma. Woody, dry and pleasantly malty with rasiniy mild finish. Very stylish.

Cloudy burgundy in color with a beige head on top. Crisp, clean, and fruity (unripened peach)....very creamy mouthfeel with a slight peppery sensation in the finish. Alcohol masked very well. A nice take on the style.

best before 31/7/04 - so getting long in the tooth. a very interesting beer. "dubbel" leads me to expect a westmalle dubbel type thing but this is more like goudenband than anything else. murky brown with a very dense, creamy cover of foam. smells of melanoidins, some herbal hops, caramel, and a good helping of some wild raspberry-ester yeastiness. in the mouth some warm caramelly sweetness rolls out into a gentle, leathery, woody tartness. not sour like a cantillon, or vinegary like a duchesse, but definitely involving some wild stuff. very moreish and drinkable for an 8%er, still, on the restrained side intensity-wise.
