A bunch of people from my school went to New Orleans and came back raving about this beer. I saw a six-pack at binny’s and decided to pick it up. Yup, just as I thought, they were stupid. I mean, yeah, it’s a step above the macros, but not really. Just a boring, bland beer.

Pours clear amber with an off-white quickly dissipating head. The aroma has caramel malt, vanilla and traces of hops. Medium / thin tinny body with semi-sharp carbonation. The flavor starts with the typical bland amber ale style malt and light mustiness. Average

Average American amber lager. Tried it on draft in New Orleans. Flavors are typical and smooth for this style.

Not my favorite of the Abita family, but still a decent beer. Good flavor nice red color and tasty addition to any meal (especially burgers).

Rather uninspiring. A step above the typical pale lager due to use of decent quantities of malt. But not much flavor.

caramel pour with a medium white head. Grainy aroma. Flavor was grain, caramel, and just a bit of hops. Finishes really clean, refreshing. An easy beer to session.

Sweet caramel malts and quite a bit of breadiness to the flavor. Nose is sweet and a bit earthy and doughy. Hops balance with a soft herbal and spicy quality. The bitterness was a bit strong for the malts in my opinion, I thought the malts were decent and should have been more the center of the beer, but the hops seemed to wash them away and leave it kinda bland.

I’m in New Orleans and I had just had a delightful dinner at an outdoor table at a fine bistro. I had hoped that a local beer, with some local gumbo and smoked kurobuta pork bellies would do the trick. Dinner was great but we switched to wine pretty quickly. No account nose. Minimal flavor ... minimal amount of sweet malts and hop bitterness. Thin in the mouth. If it were hotter, and if the food were less interesting, I could have made an excuse for a second beer.
