Bottle, courtesy someone. Clear golden straw color, frothy white head, sticky ring of lacing. Straw nose, skunky, some pears. Caramel and some pears in the flavor, some plum, sinewy chocolate in the finish. Malty and sweet, drinks better than the aroma but still meh.

This dopplebock was one of the last of my 43 beers tasted at beerfest. I can’t complain at this point. It tasted fine.

Bottle. Poured a deep golden color with thick fizzy white head. Aroma of sweet malt, grain, light hops, and some apple. Flavor is somewhat fruity, a little spicy with a touch of yeast with a sweet caramel background. A little soapy and somewhat thin in the mouth. Finishes dry. Strange Doppelbock but not bad.

Bomber. Pours a slight chill hazy deep golden- light copper- um- way too light for a doppelbock- foamy white head and some lace- strange look. Aroma is instant baby diaper, cream of wheat, DMS all over the place- cooked cabbage, and a shot of artificial saccharin like sweetness- almost like I am about to taste a sweet tart. Flavor si not quite as bad (at first)- artificial -like sweetness - dough, crackers, some toasted bread, but in a bad way- syrupy sweet- lyles golden syrup, definitely get the sweet-tart character but in the flavor it changes a bit to be more like smarties candies. Grassy and herbal hops- no real solid malt character and there is some more DMS as it warms with a tacky and astringent finish. Ugh- this is a pretty big mess and isn’t even close to a doppelbock or any real good lager for that matter. Ugh.

22 oz bottle, via BA Floydster. Pours a clear dark gold with a small fizzy white head. Thick pale and bready malts on the nose with a touch of alcohol. Some sweetness and light grassy hops as well. Slightly sweet malt driven flavor, some honey and crusty bread with just a little noticeable alcohol. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, a little clingy, with soft fizzy carbonation. A little thinned out by the alcohol in this one maybe. Overall, not the worst beer, but a fairly simple rendition.

Poured a pale to clear golden color, weak initial white head, no lacing the entire way down. The aroma was off smelling grass, dirt, sweet candy elements, and did I say something off, almost like an unbathed dog. The flavor sorta followed in a rather disappointing and unimaginable way. Sweet candy foul grass at the fore, semi-metallic aspects, just a mess. Mouthfeel was light and thin, yet it had some sticky sweet elements too. Felt like I was on a plane to Germany that crashed into the Atlantic along the way. Actually, that would have been worse.

Sharing the same name (not gator) and looking for something new to sample, I picked up a bomber. Pours a pale gold/amber with a substantial white head that laces the glass. Sweet corn aroma with some hoppy flower notes. Slightly off sweet malt, corn, hard candy and hop bitterness flavor. Pleasant, but not overly well balanced. Some inferior alcohol notes, but not bad by any means. This was not bad, but definitely not great. I am still learning all the subtle differences, but this does not seem like any doppelbock that I have had.

Pretty harsh corn nose. Floral in the mouth and medicinal. Pretty poor offering.
