22oz. Bottle: Aroma of light yeast, corn, grains, slight fruit, slight herbs, and slight spices. Poured golden/apple juice in color with a large, fluffy, off-white head that lasted throughout. Clear. Not sparkling. Small lacing. Flavor is medium sweet. Tastes of yeast, spices, slight alcohol, pale malts, and corn. Medium body. Slightly syrupy, slightly dry texture. Average carbonation. Sweet, corn, pale malt, and yeast finish. Another disappointment from Abita.

Sampled on 5/7/2009. This dopplebock pours a medium orange gold color from a 22oz bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is cereal, malt, slightly fruity. A medium bodied dopplebock. The malts are fruity and sweet, with a touch of caramel. The hops are earthy. A little sweet tasting and it gets sweeter as it warms. Decent carbonation. It needs more of a malt backbone. There was a very weird and somewhat unpleasant aftertaste in this beer that went away after the first couple of sips. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is sweet.

interest color for a proclaimed doppelbock, more a golden straw orange color. On tap at New Orleans the aroma was a cloying bitter somewhat peppery sense with an overall sweet taste.

Bomber poured a clear gold with a small lingering amber head. Aromas of bread dough, light straw and light fruittiness. Palate was medium to full bodied and smooth. Flavors of bread, graininess apple and a hint of spice with a smooth lingering bittersweet finish.

A nice find at Simone’s In Lakewood. 22oz. The pour is a boring murky orange with a thick white head. The aroma a musky malt with some fruity citrus. The flavor is a slightly funky bock flavor. This is a little sweeter than I would prefer. It could be a bit heartier.

At World Beer Festival in Raleigh NC this beer pours a hazy yellow with a small head. Aroma of hops and corn - taste of hops and malty caramel. Decent mouthfeel. Not bad.

Light golden color, pours with big off-white head. Aroma of yeast, sweet fruit, just a whiff of hops. Taste a little uneven, starts sort of bland, turns fruity/malty midstream, finishing with a burst of bitterness that seems out of place, accompanied by soapy alcohol flavor.
