Apr 16, 2009 Thanks (I think) kiefog for the share. Pours clear gold with a white head. Nose is malt, corn, lager, yeast, and maybe some honey. Flavor is yeasty lagery corn with some spice hangiung around. So-so.

Apr 9, 2009 Bottle thanks to bu11zeye. Gold in color with a decent sized white head. Aroma is of baby diaper (a clean un-used one), light perfume, citrus, yeast, and a little spice. Taste is of light malt, grain, and light spice.

Apr 7, 2009 Bottle from Nashville. What exactly is a Helles doppelbock as described on the label? Maybe it’s some weird cajun concoction. Aroma is rather fruity, light on hops and bigger on yeast. Flavour is mostly pineapple, corn and alcohol. Okay I suppose but nothing I would buy again.

Apr 6, 2009 This beer type is obviously misclassified here. On the label, it states Helles - which is probably the intended truth. Clear golden coloured body with a tonne of bubbles rising from the bottom and sides. Thick tan head that stays afloat for quite a while! Aroma of fresh citrus, coriander seed, bright hops and an odd grassyness. Medium-bodied; Sharp malty flavours with a very strong and bright grassy and yeastie flavour. Aftertaste shows some citrus, a bit of curacao and some very mild spices. Overall, not such a great beer - but by no way ’bad’. I wouldn’t buy this again, but it’s much better than pretty much all of the other Abita beers I’ve had. However, I am disappointed of this brewery too jumping on the stupid large bottle bandwagon. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased at Whole Foods in Falls Church (Tyson’s Corner), Virginia on 13-February-2009, sampled at home in Washington on 05-April-2009.

Apr 5, 2009 Bottle thanks to bu11zeye. Doppelbock??? Nose is citrus and crystalized pineapple rings. Flavor is pine, floral and grass. Mouthfeel is carbonated and acidic with a medium mouthfeel.

Apr 5, 2009 Pours a nice light yellow orange color with a small white head. Aroma is citrus, lemon, malt and yeast. . . kind of an interesting sweet and sour combo. Flavor was really kind of low key but sharp. Malty with some citrus background. Bit of a weird combo. not terrible, but not great.
