Pours a crystal clear golden color with a fizzy medium sized white head. The aroma was grassy, grainy malt, herbal hops, vegetal, and slightly acidic. The flavor is a bit different than I was expecting in a dopplebock; crystal malt, grassy, moderately spicy, a strange apple fruitiness, finishes dry. Good carbonation and medium bodied. I will pass on this in the future. nerdrocker101 (102), Atlanta, Georgia, USA

Sweet with some malt notes. I would say this is one of the lighter bodied doppelbocks I’ve had. cking (1023), North Canton, Ohio, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Jun 11, 2009 I was let down by this beer, even knowing it wasn’t very highly regarded before buying a bottle. You hear plenty of mixed thoughts about the gator, but in the end it resembles a Euro Strong Lager with a few bock tendencies. Nice golden yellow body. I used my Hefe glass for this one for no other reason than I wanted to use that glass. Large, lasting white head and ample lacing. Aroma is on the sugary side with a bread-like scent coupled by a sweet grassy aroma. All malt in the aroma. Medium to light body, drinks with ease for a big beer, finishes a touch tacky but not too shabby. Bread, biscuit flavor with a mild nuttiness. I sense a dose of adjunct power, but it sort of works overall. Not too many distinctive qualities, glad I finally got to try it although I will not be looking back for this one ever again. lb4lb (2011), Austin, Texas, USA

Smell is wheat and lager yeast and belgian type yeast too. Taste is sweet and yeasty. Unappealing. Medium body. Did not finish. IrishBoy (2712), Bakersfield, California, USA

Says it is a Helles Doppelbock on the labelNose was grassy hops, light caramel, and a light vegtal note. Clear yellow with a big yellowish glass-lacing head. flavor is slightly sweet, corny graininess, light pepperiness, and a slight bitterness in the finish. bfeldmann (1042), Wilmington, Delaware, USA
| 1.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 1/5 | 3/10 | 1/5 | 4/20 | Jun 10, 2009 Wow what a train wreck. Poured light golden color with no lacing small head. Aroma was junk, grass sweetness and something not good, like wet dog. Flavor um yeah NASTY almost like wet grass that was closed up for weeks. Very thin mouthfeel. Wow no more no more please.
