Commercial Description:
Abita Bock is brewed with Perle hops and British pale and caramel malts. Our Bock is similar to a German Maibock in its high malt content, full body and slightly higher alcohol content. Available January-March.

Sampled at Peoria Int’l Beer Festival. Ah, so this a maibock. I tought for a second the rep was pouring me the wrong beer. Pale gold with a small head. Straw aroma - and that’s about it. Fruity esters in the flavor initially, with lots of grains (wheat), hay, and some ginger. WAY too carbonated, nearly burningly so. Ick.

Yellow with a big white head. Aroma and flavor are a little sweet and malty. But seem pretty similar to BMC

Bottle. "Mardi Gras Bock". Decent, but kind of plain. Sweeter than I initially expected, but decent none the less. My initial reaction was that I could tell this was an abita beer as it shared a bit of the "purple haze" taste when I first cracked into it.

Pale amber appearance with a small, off white head and sparce lacing. Caramel malt aroma with a touch of sour fruit. Sweet, malty taste followed by some harsh alcohol notes; low keyed hop presence. Medium bodied, well carbonated mouthfeel. Dry, acidic finish.

Had a slight hop presance which balanced out it's malty notes. Overall it was nothing special.

Beer pours a clear medium orange-gold color with a small, off-white, mostly and quickly diminishing head. The aroma isn’t very nice: malty with moderate notes of husky toasted grain, light notes of caramel; yeasty with a trace of dough; moderate-to-heavy miscellaneous notes of cooked corn/DMS, diacetyl, higher alcohols (smells like a bad mead) and a trace note of honey. The flavor is lightly sweet, moderately bitter with a long, unclean, warm, lightly bittersweet finish. The body is light, the texture is watery and the carbonation is lively.

Pale light brown--Bubbly head, with moderate retention. Malty aroma. Good flavor, but a little watery. Not quite as crisp as I expected.

Clear golden hue. Light sour nose. Small, white, quickly dissipating head. Metallic, sour, pale malts, light to medium bodied, bitter almost skunky hops in the finish.
