The nose is sweet and bready, nice malt profile, caramel, grassy hops come through, nice phenolic sharpness. The flavor is mildly leafy up front, some hop bitterness, malty, sweet, bready. Palate is softly carbonated with a mild bitterness. Very drinkable. Beerdedone (1885), Croydon, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 26, 2006 Taster at the <a href=/events-detail.asp?eventID=3891>Balmoral Brewhaha. Got to this pretty late in the evening, while I was pouring. So my notes are a bit sketchy. Couldn’t gather too much of the smell, only that it was a fine "beer" character. Taste turned out to be rather yeasty, surprising for a beer that I would presume to have been pasteurized and carbonated… or is it? Still, some fine dark roasty malts and a contrasting German hop profile make this a solid example of the style. LinusStick (1850), Moon Twp, suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 4, 2008 A decent heller bock. Aroma was mostly caramel malt with a faint hoppiness in the aftertaste. Pour was a nice deep brown with a one finger off white head. Taste was very sweet. Mostly caramel malt with a sticky sugary aftertaste. Nice carbonation and mouthfeel. Not bad. thegreenrooster (1842), St.louis, Missouri, USA
| 2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 3/10 | 3/5 | 6/20 | Jun 2, 2005 Pour is a nice orange with a white head. Aroma is faint hops and malts. Flavor is almost to faint to even get a good rating. Theres malts in there but they do not even stand out. The beer looks great but is blah after that. rudolf (1783), Buffalo, New York, USA
