| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Jul 14, 2008 Pours dark golden with mostly receding wispy off-white head. Aroma of sweet malt, light caramel, cookie. Taste is malty, toasted bread, sweet wort, earthy malt. Mouthfeel is full bodied with moderate carbonation. I find many bocks too sweet for my taste, but I think this beer does a good job in that regard. frankenkitty (1903), Oak Lawn, Illinois, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 28, 2006 Served a highly carbonated amber with a cream colored skin & thick halo. Apple juice aroma underscored by cabbage and yeast. Well-hopped and spicy flavor with a sharp mouthfeel contradicting a smooth body. Touches of fruit and honey.

Bottle best before July ... something, but what do they know? Poured clear amber with reddish tinges at the top, a small off-white foamy head. Decent aroma - bready yeast, lightly toasted cereal grain malt, a hint of alcohol and light citrus hops, maybe a hint of sulfur on warming. Tastes like a bock - bitter herbal hops, grainy toasted malt, hint of citrus and alcohol, a little floral sweetness balanced the medium bitter finish. Average boday, astringent, a little stickiness on the tongue - pretty solid, really, defnitely over 3 and one of their better offerings IMO. BREWMUSKCLES (1088), New Jersey, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 16, 2009 Updated: Mar 17, 2009THIS BEER IS REFRESHING and different for a bock. of course i know abita to use their own take on most brew styles and this is an example. happily this is a pretty good beer it is moderately tasty, slicky sweet, substantive enough with malt and has an almost moderate hops and citrus fruit flavor that is enjoyable. there is a cold, clean and clear water mouthfeel and taste to their beers that i have noticed and find myself looking for now, because it is intruiging chiefly since the flavor and alcohol are not weak. radagast83 (1317), Fairfax, Virginia, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 4, 2007 Bottle. "Mardi Gras Bock". Decent, but kind of plain. Sweeter than I initially expected, but decent none the less. My initial reaction was that I could tell this was an abita beer as it shared a bit of the "purple haze" taste when I first cracked into it. KimJohansen (7145), Copenhagen V, Denmark

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 22, 2008 This is the second "Mardi Gras" themed beer I’ve had this year. The first being Lost Abbey Carnevale Ale. ( Which is an interesting trend.) 12oz twist-off bottle. Pours a light amber color, white foamy head. Aroma of a pale lager. Light aroma of caramel. Hints of corn. Flavor is rich and malty. Not necessarily sugary, but the flavor consists of a rich cereal, malted barley. Rich flavored and somewhat medium bodied. Pleasant bitterness to follow. I am rather impressed with this offering.
